A method and system are disclosed for adapting a production flow schedule for one or more production processes, each having one or more process steps that use power for the execution thereof. An exemplary method includes identifying at least one availability time window in which there is a predetermined minimum power availability within a predetermined optimization time period based on a piece of availability information which indicates a forecast power availability during the optimization time period; providing an indication of one or more flexible process steps, which can be executed in a plurality of alternative time windows within the optimization time period; and for each of the flexible process steps, temporally rearranging the corresponding flexible process step into one of the corresponding alternative time windows if the rescheduling is within the availability time window in order to obtain an adapted production flow schedule.

Method and system for adapting a production flow schedule for a production process

An apparatus for converting at least one nitrogen oxide, such as NO, O, or NO converts oxide in the presence of a catalyst supported on a metal mesh-like structure. The mesh-like structure is preferably fibrous formed of metal or ceramic fibers which may include knitted wire, sintered metal fibers and so on and has a porosity greater than about 85%. The mesh is formed into channels, preferably corrugations, and includes vortex generators, which generate turbulence to create a pressure differential across the mesh, to promote flow of fluids through the mesh pores which normally do not exhibit flow therethrough in the absence of such pressure differential. Preferred embodiments of structured packing and monoliths are disclosed each having a catalyst preferably in the mesh pores and/or coated on the fibers for converting the nitrogen oxide. In one embodiment, corrugated mesh-like sheets are arranged in series with a ceramic solid monolith structure with the corrugated sheets initially receiving the fluid with the at least one nitrogen oxide to be converted and which fluid then flows into the monolith structure to complete the conversion. In other embodiments, the mesh-like structure may have different configurations including a honeycomb arrangement and may include metal, metal and ceramic or ceramic and may be fibrous.

Conversion of nitrogen oxides in the presence of a catalyst supported on a mesh-like structure

A product comprised of a three dimensional network of material is coated with a particulate support. The coating may be applied by an electrophoretic coating procedure to apply a particulate coating on the surface or into the interior portions of such three dimensional network of material. In one embodiment, the particles are a catalyst or a catalyst precursor or a catalyst support to thereby provide a catalyst structure in which catalyst may be supported as a coating in the interior and on the exterior of a three-dimensional network of material having a high void volume. Edge effects may be reduced by control or disruption of field lines during the coating. In addition, larger particles may be electrophoretically coated onto a product by the use of smaller particles which function as a &ldquo;glue&rdquo;.

A method and a cleaning device for the mechanical cleaning of a powder, in particular of primary aluminum oxide, direct the powder against a surface in order to strip particulate impurities adhering to the surface of the powder. The aluminum oxide to be cleaned is introduced into a stripping device having a striking mechanism directing the powder with a speed of 20 to 30 m/s several tens of times per second for a time period of &lt;1 to 10 seconds against impact blades rotating in a direction opposite to the striking mechanism The particles of the cleaned, powder-form aluminum oxide having a size of &gt;10 .mu.m are separated from the cleaned, powder-form aluminum oxide having a size &lt;10 .mu.m and the impurities by an air sifter and/or a cyclone and are fed for smelting electrolysis. The powder-form aluminum oxide having a size &lt;10 .mu.m and the impurities are fed to a waste dump or are further processed as raw material.
