In the 'brake-by-wire' operating mode, the filling space is connected to the travel simulator via a pressure medium line such that, in the &#x201c;brake-by-wire&#x201d; operating mode, the first small active surface is effective, and, in the recoil plane after a closing travel has been overcome, the second, large hydraulic active surface is effective and the active surfaces are switched over depending on a hydraulic pressure in the pressure space and on the pedal force, respectively.

A brake system for motor vehicles having a brake master cylinder that can be operated by a brake pedal, a fluid reservoir assigned to the brake master cylinder, a hydraulic booster stage which is operatively connected to the inlet side of the brake master cylinder, with a booster piston which is subjected to a hydraulic boost pressure supplied by a pressure source and which in all operating modes allows a direct mechanical action by the brake pedal on a hydraulic piston of the brake master cylinder, and having an electrically controllable pressure regulating valve arrangement for metering the boost pressure. In order to provide a brake system of simple design, which is cost-effective to produce and which functions reliably, the pressure regulating valve arrangement can be hydraulically controllable.

A slide valve for regulating the hydraulic pressure at a working connection to values between a low pressure and a high pressure, for which purpose a valve slide is accommodated in a hole of a housing such that it can move linearly, which housing has a low pressure connection, a high pressure connection and the working connection, for which purpose the working connection is connected to the low pressure connection in the first position of the valve slide, while the working connection is separated from the two further connections in a second position of the valve slide, and having a third position of the valve slide, in which the working connection is connected to the high pressure connection (P). A plurality of radial holes are arranged in the valve slide, through which radial holes flow can pass and which radial holes interact with a plurality of circumferential control edges in the housing which seal the valve slide in the hole in a leakfree manner by means of suitable sealing rings.

A sliding valve having a valve slider that can be axially displaced relative to the valve sleeve in order to determine the size of variable passage cross-sections and for establishing a pressurization connection between a high-pressure connection and a working connection and a pressure-reducing connection between the working connection and a low-pressure connection, in that control edges running in the circumferential direction are configured on the outer circumference of the valve slider, which interact with the control edges of the valve sleeve. The control edges of the valve sleeve are configured as edges extending in the circumferential direction relative to the symmetry axis, which are a component of a lateral face of the valve sleeve.

A pressure-supplying module () enables both filling and evacuation of the space () as well as its evacuation. A fourth piston () between the first piston () and the third piston () delimits a hydraulic compartment () in interaction with the third piston (). A valve assembly () varies the pressure introduced into the space ().

It is known in the art to apply a counterforce, which opposes the actuating force, onto an accelerator pedal of a vehicle in the event that the vehicle, with respect to a vehicle parameter, sufficiently deviates from the nominal value. The parameter can be the speed or the measured distance from vehicles driving ahead. The invention discloses a series of embodiments that satisfy especially easily and reliably the defined requirements for applying the counterforce to the pedal.

A hydraulic vehicle brake equipped with a parking brake device, in particular for motor vehicles, including a brake housing in which a hydraulic service pressure chamber is delimited by a brake piston, wherein the parking brake device acts on the brake piston and, in the applied condition, can be locked by a locking device, and an energy accumulator cooperating with the brake piston is equipped with at least one integrated spring element. In order to realize a simple and low-cost parking brake function that complies with legal requirements, according to the invention, the parking brake device is operable by a pressure that is introduced into the service pressure chamber and enables charging the energy accumulator.
