A redundant system for processing at least one signal is described wherein the redundant system has N+1 devices include N operational devices and one reserve device. The N operational devices and the reserve device are interconnected with each other. The redundant system includes a system control integrated within one of the devices of the redundant system. The redundant system further includes switches that are associated with the operational devices. In case of a failure of a respective operational device, the system control is configured to cause at least one of the devices to operate the switch associated with the respective operational device having the failure. Further, a method of operating a redundant system for processing at least one signal is described.

An improved amplification of multiband signals for an uplink, in particular a satellite uplink is provided. For this purpose, multiple signals for separate frequency bands may be provided to a number of two or more uplink converters. The output of each uplink converter is amplified by a separate amplifier and the separately amplified signals are combined to obtain an amplified multiband uplink signal. In particular a waveguide combiner may be used for combining the amplified signals.

An amplifier includes two amplifier circuits and a power splitter. The power splitter splits a signal to be amplified and generates a phase displacement of 90&#xb0; in the case of a rated frequency between resulting partial signals. In this context, the amplifier circuits each amplify one of the partial signals or respectively a signal derived from one of the partial signals. The amplifier additionally contains a first delay element, which is arranged between the power splitter and one of the amplifier circuits.

An amplifier comprises a first amplifier circuit, a second amplifier circuit, a hybrid-coupler circuit and a termination. The hybrid-coupler circuit comprises an output port and an isolation port.
