Techniques and solutions are provided for a table schema that facilitates data denormalization, and which can allow for improved database system performance. Rather than accessing multiple tables, database operations can access a single table, which can reduce the number and complexity of database operations. The table schema includes an attribute subset indicator field. Different values of the attribute subset indicator field can be associated with different contexts, such as different tables or views, which in turn can represent different entity types. A given value of the attribute subset indicator field allows data to be accessed at a coarse granularity, while more-fine grained results can be obtained by providing a value for one or more attribute fields of the table. Different subsets of attributes are retrievable for a given value of the attribute subset indicator field.

Described herein is a framework for controlling an accounting process for financial instruments. In accordance with one aspect of the framework, information associated with a financial instrument is received. Receiving the information includes creating a corresponding entry in a worklist. The received information is registered. A work package of relevant accounting steps is derived based on the registered information. A plurality of dates having an open status is determined. The dates indicate when the relevant accounting steps are to be executed. The relevant accounting steps are executed according to the determined dates.

Method for controlling an accounting process for financial instruments

Systems and methods for a centralized approach to multidimensional accounting are provided. Exemplary embodiments of systems and methods include the creation of GAAP-independent and GAAP-dependent posting documents in an accounting database. The GAAP-independent and GAAP-dependent posting documents may be stored separately in the accounting database, and a given GAAP-independent posting document may be associated with multiple GAAP-dependent posting documents, allowing for significant reductions in data volume and data reconciliation processing costs.
