A laundry system having a first laundry appliance for washing fabric items, a second laundry appliance for drying fabric items horizontally arranged relative to the first laundry appliance, a washing module vertically arranged above one of the first laundry appliance or the second laundry appliance, and a non-tumble drying module vertically arranged above the other of the first laundry appliance or the second laundry appliance for drying fabric items.

A modular laundry system includes a laundry appliance defining a width and a height. A module is below the laundry appliance. The module has a cabinet with an open face. A tub is provided within the cabinet. A washing or drying chamber is provided within the tub for receiving fabric items to be washed or dried.

A modular laundry system includes a washing machine defining a single width and a single width horizontal module below the washing machine. The single width horizontal module below the washing machine includes a cabinet capable of supporting the washing machine thereupon and having an open face.
