This disclosure provides compositions of electrochromic dyes, functionalized electrochromic dyes and dye macromers which may be incorporated into electrochromic devices with tailored optical properties. The disclosure provides electrochromic devices and electrochromic materials which do not use halogenated anions. This disclosure also provides EC compositions and devices for controlling color.

Electrochromic devices using non-halogenated anions

This disclosure provides compositions of electrochromic dyes, functionalized electrochromic dyes and dye macromers which may be incorporated into electrochromic devices with tailored optical properties. The disclosure provides an electrochromic dye with an attached functionalization group wherein the said dye colors by at least one of oxidation and reduction and contains at least two moieties wherein a first moiety is electrochromic and a second moiety is an electrochromic moiety, an electron donating moiety, or an electron receiving moiety and wherein the functionalization group. This disclosure also provides EC compositions and devices for controlling color.

Electrochromic dyes and their use in electrochromic devices

Methods and materials to fabricate electrochromic including electrochemical devices are disclosed. In particular, emphasis is placed on the composition, fabrication and incorporation of electrolytic sheets in these devices. Composition, fabrication and incorporation of redox materials and sealants suitable for these devices are also disclosed. Incorporation of EC devices in insulated glass system (IGU) windows is also disclosed.

The present invention relates to variable optical transmission windows and window panels which are used for architectural applications, particularly in building entryway systems. This disclosure is directed to the use and powering of such panels in door and windows that, in part, physically open by manual or automatic sliding, tilting, pushing or rotating about the hinges, unless specifically mentioned otherwise. The doors may also have other electronic devices which provided added user functionality.

Entryway systems with variable light transmission panels

The present invention relates to variable optical transmission windows and window panels (VLTP) which are used for architectural applications such as building entryway systems and windows. The optical transmission of the VLTPs is reversibly changed by applying an electrical voltage. This disclosure includes combination of more than one VLTP in a single window which darken to different colors. This disclosure is directed to the use and powering of such panels in door and windows. The doors and windows having these VLTPs may also have other electronic devices which provide added user functionality.

Methods of making ion-conductive polymer films for electrochromic devices

Briefly, an intelligent label is associated with a good, and includes one or more permanent and irreversible electrochromic indicators that are used to report the condition of that good at selected points in the movement or usage of that good. These electrochromic indicators provide immediate visual information regarding the status of the good without need to interrogate or communicate with the electronics or processor on the intelligent label. In this way, anyone in the shipping or use chain for the good, including the end user consumer, can quickly understand whether the product is meeting shipping and quality standards. If a product fails to meet shipping or quality standards, the particular point where the product failed can be quickly and easily identified, and information can be used to assure the consumer remains safe, while providing essential information for improving the shipping process. It will be understood that the label may take many forms, such as a tag attached to the good, integrated into the packaging for the good, integrated into the good itself, or may even be an information area on a prepaid card for example. The label may also include, for example, print information regarding the good, usage or shipping rules, or address and coded information.

Intelligent label device and method

A method of determining beryllium or a beryllium compound in a sample is disclosed by measuring fluorescence. This method discloses use of highly strong acids to extract beryllium from samples into the acidic medium, and then using these solutions in combination with highly alkaline fluorescent indicating dye solutions to determine the amount of beryllium in the samples.

An integrated window structure having opposing substrates that sandwich an electrochromic coating, a dye layer and an ion-isolating mechanism. In some embodiments, this is a selective ion-conductive layer and other embodiments incorporate nanostructures and polymers to tether the dye ions; these methods prevent dye ions from transporting into the electrochromic layer during redox activity. Control and systems to integrate the electrochromic elements in windows is provided.

Electrochromic device structures

A method of determining beryllium or a beryllium compound thereof in a sample is disclosed by measuring fluorescence. This method discloses use of highly alkaline fluorescent indicating dye solutions with pH greater than 12.9. In a preferred embodiment the fluorescent indicating dye solutions do not contain a pH buffer. Further, the method also discloses measuring fluorescence under highly alkaline conditions, where the pH after mixing the highly alkaline fluorescent indicating dye solutions with the sample solution containing beryllium is at least 11, preferably 12. The use of highly alkaline solution provides superior detection limits for beryllium by using dilution ratios of 4&#xd7; and lower.
