Encapsulated aluminum salts are produced by combining and heating an aqueous aluminum salt selected from aluminum halohydrate, aluminum nitrohydrate and mixtures thereof; a hydrophobic liquid; and a carboxylate. The mixture is heated until substantially all of the free water has been removed. The encapsulated aluminum salts precipitate out after the removal of the water. The encapsulated aluminum salts are useful in deodorant and antiperspirant compositions.

The present invention relates to an electrorheological fluid composition comprising a dispersion of a plurality of solid particles in an electrically non-conducting liquid, the improvement comprising using as said solid particles a composition having the general formula:

Encapsulated aluminum-zirconium salt compositions are produced by combining and heating an aqueous aluminum- zirconium salt selected from aluminum-zirconium halohydrates and mixtures thereof; a hydrophobic liquid; and a carboxylate. Encapsulated aluminum and aluminum-zirconium salt compositions are produced by combining and heating an aqueous aluminum or aluminum-zirconium salt; a hydrophobic liquid; and a silicone carboxy acid or silicone carboxy acid derivative. The mixture is heated until substantially all of the free water has been removed. The encapsulated aluminum and aluminum-zirconium salt compositions precipitate out after the removal of the water. The encapsulated aluminum and aluminum-zirconium salt compositions are useful in deodorant and antiperspirant compositions.
