A wet-mate connector assembly can include a male portion having a male electrical contact with a valve metal alloy thereon. The wet-mate connector assembly can also include a female portion having a female electrical contact with the valve metal alloy thereon. The female portion can receive the male portion for defining a fluid flow path therein and can form an electrical connection with the male portion. The valve metal alloy can respond to an electrical charge and a downhole fluid by forming an insulation layer on at least one of the male electrical contact or the female electrical contact in a downhole of a well.

An electro-hydraulic control system for actuating a control valve includes a control module. The control module is coupled to the surface via at least one hydraulic line and two electrical power lines. The control module uses one of the hydraulic lines as a 'supply' line and the other line as a “return” line if included. Each hydraulic line of the at least one hydraulic lines can be used as an “open” line or a “close” line to open or close the control valve. The control module includes two normally closed (NC) solenoid valves (SOVs) that are coupled to the electrical power lines and can be controlled from the surface to open or close. The opening or closing of the NC SOVs in cooperation with hydraulic pressure on a “supply” line of the hydraulic lines operates (i.e., closes or opens) the control valve.

Single solenoid electro-hydraulic control system to actuate downhole valves

A control module for operation of downhole well tools and apparatuses is disclosed. The control module can control multiple tools, electronics, subs, etc. based on one electronic input and optionally one hydraulic input from the wellhead or surface. The control module can transmit along selected electronic lines and optionally hydraulic lines in order to control specific apparatuses of the downhole well tools. By allowing a single electronic line from the surface or shut in to control multiple tools, total electronic complexity is reduced. A three conductor control module can control operations of up to twelve downhole tools, and a two conductor control module can control operations of up to six downhole tools, in some embodiments.

Downhole multiplexed electrical system

An electro-hydraulic control system actuates a control valve. A control module is controlled via two hydraulic lines and two electrical power lines. The control module uses one of the hydraulic lines as a 'supply' line and the other line as a 'return' line. The control module includes two normally closed (NC) solenoid valves (SOVs) that are coupled to the electrical power lines and can be controlled from the surface to open or close. The opening or closing of the NC SOVs in cooperation with hydraulic pressure on a &#x201c;supply&#x201d; line of the hydraulic lines operates the control valve. A NC hydraulic activated pilot cartridge in the control module can be actuated open, and movement of the control valve in either direction can continue for a short time without energizing either of the NC SOVs, therefore lowering a power demand required by the system.

An actuation module may comprise a housing, a solenoid operated valve solenoid operated valve disposed in the housing, a diode disposed in the housing, a silicon bilateral voltage triggered switch thyristor disposed in the housing and electrically connected to the solenoid operated valve, and an output connected to the solenoid operated valve. A method may comprise connecting an actuation module to a production tubing valve, connecting the actuation module to a valve control system, connecting an information handling system to the valve control system, controlling the actuation module with the valve control system, and activating the production tubing valve with the actuation module.

A method and apparatus for controlling a control valve. A primary line is pressurized to move according to an operating sequence to move a first piston within a first housing from a reset position to a close position such that a first control valve is switched to a closed state. The primary line is pressurized according to the operating sequence to move the first piston within the first housing from the close position to an open position such that the first control valve is switched to an open state. The secondary line is pressurized according to the operating sequence to move the first piston within the first housing back into the reset position.

Hydraulic control system for index downhole valves

A releasable connection mechanism for use downhole with a tubular member includes a collet, a collet stop, and a ring housing. The collet is configured to engage the tubular member, the collet stop is axially movable with respect to the collet between a disengaged position to not engage the collet and an engaged position to engage the collet, and the ring housing is selectively axially movable with respect to the collet. In the disengaged position, the collet is configured to move with respect to the ring housing to engage the ring housing and prevent the collet from disengaging the tubular member when the collet is tensioned with respect to the tubular member. In the engaged position, the collet is configured to remain axially stationary with respect to the ring housing and disengage the tubular member when the collet is tensioned with respect to the tubular member.

Releasable connection mechanism for use within a well

A method and apparatus for controlling a control valve. A primary line is pressurized according to an operating sequence to move a piston within a housing such that one of an open line port and a close line port is in fluid communication with a selected chamber of a first control chamber and a second control chamber of a plurality of chambers defined between the piston and the housing. A secondary line is pressurized to move hydraulic fluid through the selected chamber and through the one of the open line port and the close line port in fluid communication with the selected chamber to thereby control a state of a control valve. The primary line and the secondary line are pressurized simultaneously according to the operating sequence. The primary line is vented, while the secondary line remains pressurized, to reset a position of the piston within the housing.

Dual line hydraulic control system to operate multiple downhole valves

An auto-shut-in valve in a chemical injection valve is described for operation at a downhole location in a wellbore. The chemical injection valve includes a closure member that is maintained in an open position by fluid pressure in a chemical supply line such that diminishment of the fluid pressure in the chemical supply line automatically causes the closure member to move to a closed position. A first mating surface on the closure member is exposed to the fluid pressure in the chemical supply line when the closure member is in the open position, and defines a portion of an equivalent differential surface to which the fluid pressure is exposed to maintain the closure member in the open position. The first mating surface is isolated from the fluid pressure in the chemical supply line when the closure member is in the closed position.
