A hybrid position sensor for determining a position of a hybrid target includes a conductive target and a magnet configuration which are rigidly connected and at least partially overlapping. The position sensor has a first transducer configured for generating a first signal induced by the conductive target and indicative for the position of the hybrid target; a second transducer, at least partially overlapping with the first transducer, and configured for generating a second signal induced by the magnet configuration and indicative for the position of the hybrid target; a processing device configured for receiving the first signal to determine a first position of the hybrid target and for receiving the second signal to determine a second position of the hybrid target and for determining reliability of the position sensor based on the determined first and second position.

Reliable position sensor

A position sensor for determining the position of a conductive target using a transmit coil and a plurality of receive coils. The receive coils may each include two strands and a strand may be obtained from a conversion of a substantially sinusoidal primitive function. The position sensor may realize a reduction of harmonics in signals from the receive coils.

Inductive position sensor

A hybrid position sensor for determining the position of a hybrid target includes a main transducer for obtaining a first signal indicative for a position of the hybrid target within a first range and with a first resolution using a first or second technology; a support transducer for obtaining a second signal indicative for the position of the hybrid target within a second range and with a second resolution using the second technology if the main transducer is using the first technology and vice versa, wherein the first range is smaller than the second and the first resolution is higher than the second, and wherein the first technology is magnet based and the second technology is an inductive technology; a combiner for combining the obtained first signal and second signal to determine the position of the hybrid target.

Hybrid position sensor

The present invention relates to an inductive position sensor configured to determine a position of a target device. The inductive position sensor comprises at least two coils for determining the position. At least two of the at least two coils for determining the position at least partially overlap. At least one coil of the at least two at least partially overlapping coils is a transmitter coil and at least one of the at least two coils is a receiver coil. At least one of the at least two coils has Nportions substantially equally distributed over N substantially parallel planes, N being an integer larger than or equal to two and R an integer larger than or equal to zero. For each of the at least two coils the portions distributed over the N substantially parallel planes are substantially identical, so that mutual inductance between the at least two coils is substantially unaffected by misalignments between the N substantially parallel planes.

A position sensor system for measuring a position of a target movable outside a plane, the system comprising: a first magnetic sensor and a second magnetic sensor fixedly arranged in the plane and spaced apart by a distance; the first respectively second magnetic sensor adapted for measuring at least one first respectively second in-plane magnetic field component in the plane to obtain at least a first respectively second value; a controller connected to the sensors for obtaining the values, and adapted for determining the out-of-plane position as a function of the values and of the predefined distance. A method is provided for determining the position.

Magnetic position sensor system and method

An inductive position sensor is configured to determine a position of a target device. The inductive position sensor comprises at least two coils for determining said position. At least two of the at least two coils for determining the position at least partially overlap. The at least two coils each have a plurality of portions being equally distributed over N substantially parallel planes, with N being an integer larger than or equal to two. For each of the at least two coils the portions distributed over the N substantially parallel planes are substantially identical, so that mutual inductance between the at least two coils is substantially unaffected by misalignments between the N substantially parallel planes.

The present invention relates to an inductive position sensor configured to determine a position of a target device, comprising at least one receiving coil arranged to receive a magnetic field and an inner transmitting coil winding and an outer transmitting coil winding arranged to generate said magnetic field, whereby said at least one receiving coil is positioned between said inner transmitting coil winding and said outer transmitting coil winding and whereby said inner transmitting coil winding and said outer transmitting coil winding are so arranged that current flows in the same sense.
