A flip shield is pivoted about an axis parallel to the movement direction and includes a linear straight portion parallel to the axis in a redirection position.

Methods and apparatus for applying product

An apparatus () applies product in liquid or granular form to an area and includes a pivotal platform () solely supported to a vehicular portion through bushings () formed of compressible material to reduce operator fatigue. A utility vehicle for removably mounting and carrying a plurality of different equipment, such as turf maintenance equipment, is provided. The utility vehicle is motorized and has a support frame. A multi-purpose platform is mounted to the support frame. The multi-purpose platform has a plurality of different equipment mounts so configured and arranged to removably mount the plurality of different equipment to the multi-purpose platform. A hydraulic lifting mechanism pivots the multi-purpose platform upward while the equipment is mounted to the multi-purpose platform to provide access to the area of the vehicle underneath the multi-purpose platform.

Utility vehicles

An aerator that allows the operator to make a turn with the machine while the tines are still in contact with the turf through the use of a differential shaft and brakes that enhance the maneuverability of the machine. The aerator is fitted with a mechanical gear type differential on an intermediate drive shaft that provides for automatic, separate and variable rotational motion of the individual halves of the tine shaft. This differential apparatus also provides constant and equal torque application to both sides of the tine wheel assembly simultaneously while the machine is operating. This insures that tine penetration into the turf is equal on both sides at all times. The tine shaft halves are designed and mounted in such manner as to allow each half (left and right sides) to be driven by separate chains from the differential shaft. This design results in a desired variation in the speed of rotation of the two halves that facilitates turning the unit. The differential mechanism is also functional in driving the transport rollers at the front of the machine. The improved aerator is also fitted with brakes installed on each side of the unit which can reduce the speed of rotation of the separate tine wheel halves and the individual drive rollers on the front of the unit, thus increasing the steering efficiency and a spring-actuated lift assist to help the operator raise the unit into the transport position. The aerator includes heavy duty springs on both sides of the unit to apply equal forces to both of the transport wheel lift members. A release mechanism operated from the handle bar is provided to allow the operator to disengage the retaining latches, which will allow these springs to pull the transport wheels under the unit thus raising the tine shaft halves. The aerator also incorporates drums of sufficient mass so as to not require the addition of water or other additional weighting methods.

Method and apparatus for an aerator with differential, steering assist and power lifting

An attachment mounting structure is provided for cargo bed and sprayer assembly attachments usable on a utility vehicle adapted for use in turf related applications. The structure includes pivotable supports between each attachment and the vehicle frame that permit them to be interchangeably mounted on the vehicle. The structure further includes a connection on each attachment that permits it to be secured to a hydraulic cylinder carried by the vehicle, thereby allowing the attachment to be tilted upward and rearwardly so as to provide access to the engine and/or related drive components carried beneath the attachment. The mounting structure also permits the two attachments to be quickly and easily interchanged so that the vehicle could be better utilized.

A vehicle includes a bed having an opening through which a sling leg may be passed. A sling load portal includes the opening and a door mounted under the bed and movable between a closed position wherein the door is in registration with the opening and an open position wherein the door is removed from registration with the opening, providing a path through the bed to a lift provision connected to the frame of the vehicle.

A tie-down anchor is provided for strapping cargo to a cargo bed. The tie-down anchor includes a receptacle member, which in turn includes a base and a mounting flange secured to the base. The mounting flange is mounted to the cargo bed in alignment with a mounting hole in the bed. A strap-receiving member is disposed in the receptacle member supported on the base for floating rotary and pivotal movement. The strap-receiving member includes a base leg having a length greater than the diameter of the mounting hole and an extension fixed to the base leg to create an opening for receiving the strap. The extension is narrower than the mounting hole so that the extension may pass through the mounting hole and extend above the bed.

A convertible cargo box for transporting cargo on a vehicle is provided with first and second opposite side walls pivotably mounted about generally horizontal axes located adjacent the floor. The first and second side walls are each pivotable between a closed position generally perpendicular to the floor and an open position generally parallel to and aligned with floor to form an extension thereof. A sidewall support assembly is provided for releasably latching one of the first and second side walls in its open and closed positions. The sidewall support assembly includes a slide latch having a first end pivotably mounted to the one of the first and second side walls. The slide latch has an elongated slot with a stop corresponding to the open position of the one of the side walls. A slot follower is fixed between the first and second opposite side walls and slidably captured in the slot. The slot follower is engageable with the stop for preventing further pivoting of the one of the first and second side walls past its open position when the slot follower engages the stop.
