A gunnable adhesive composition includes a silicone resin and an organopolysiloxane, or a reaction product thereof; as well as a filler and a solvent. The silicone resin and the organopolysiloxane are present in amounts to provide a resin/polymer ratio ranging from 58% to 64%. The gunnable adhesive composition may be applied to low surface energy substrates at ambient temperatures without primer or other surface treatment. The gunnable adhesive composition and adhesive product thereof are useful in weather barrier applications, such as building wraps.

Gunnable adhesive composition for use in construction membrane applications

A hot melt adhesive composition can be used to laminate substrates together in construction industry and industrial maintenance and assembly applications. The hot melt adhesive composition is sprayable to form a thin layer (1 to 200 microns in thickness) on a substrate. The hot melt adhesive can cure by exposure to moisture or harden by cooling, or a combination thereof.

A room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone composition curable in the presence of moisture with rapid development of green strength. The RTV silicone composition comprises (A) 0 to about 85 weight percent polydiorganosiloxanes comprising on average at least 1.2 chain terminations per molecule selected from the group consisting of hydroxysilyl groups and alkoxysilyl groups; (B) about 10 to 95 weight percent polydiorganosiloxanes comprising on average at least 1.2 chain terminations per molecule selected from the group consisting of hydroxysilyl groups, alkoxysilyl groups, and multi-alkoxysilyl groups, provided that at least one chain termination per molecule comprises a multi-alkoxysilyl group; (C) an effective amount of a condensation catalyst; (D) 0 to about 40 weight percent of an alkoxysilane; and (E) 0 to about 60 weight percent of a filler; provided that the sum of the weight percents of Components (A) and (B) comprises about 20 to 95 weight percent based on the total weight of the RTV silicone composition.

RTV silicone compositions with rapid development of green strength

An oxime curable silicone sealant composition with good oil resistance can be formulated, using calcium carbonate filler with higher water content than previously known to be useful. The sealant formulation is adjusted to accommodate higher water content by adjusting the ketoximosilane crosslinker level. The correct amount of crosslinker is determined by the hydroxy content present from both the silanol on the base polymer and the water content of the filler.

Oil resistant silicone sealants

The invention relates to a RTV silicone composition having increased hot oil resistance upon curing. The RTV silicone composition comprises a polydiorganosiloxane, an acyloxy-functional crosslinker, a metal salt of a carboxylic acid catalyst, a filler, and a metal acetate. In a preferred embodiment a metal acetylacetonate is also added.

The invention relates to a RTV silicone composition having increased hot oil resistance upon curing. The RTV silicone composition comprises a polydiorganosiloxane, an acyloxy-functional crosslinker, a metal salt of a carboxylic acid catalyst, a filler, and a metal acetylacetonate. In a preferred embodiment a metal oxide is also added.

A process of making a polydiorganosiloxane-silica foundation mixture from a free-flowing, powdered, surface-modified, reinforcing silica-polydiorganosiloxane concentrate used to make, for example, RTV silicone sealant compositions which have non-sag properties. The foundation mixtures are made by combining, mixing, and heating a reinforcing silica filler and a diol surface modifying agent to a temperature of 20.degree. C. to &lt;180.degree. C. using 0.05 to 0.5 parts by weight of the diol per one part by weight of the silica. Polydiorganosiloxane is added gradually to the resulting fluidized filler over a time period of less than 10 minutes to obtain the free flowing powdered reinforcing silica-polydiorganosiloxane concentrate. The foundation mixture is obtained by massing the concentrate and adding more polydiorganosiloxane to obtain a mixture which has from 5 to 20 weight percent silica filler. The foundation mixtures have a plateau stress of &gt;700 dynes/cm.sup.2 and a shear-thinned viscosity of no more than 1,000 Pa.s at a shear stress of 50,000 dynes/cm.sup.2. RTV silicone sealant compositions can be obtained in 10 to 15 minutes from the start of making the surface modified silica filler to the complete sealant composition.
