In the method a force F.sub.M is measured which has substantially the same magnitude over the pivotal range depending on the path of the warp and on the geometrical arrangement of the deflection member, of the tensioning member and of the pivot axis. The tension of the warp can thereby be substantially correctly determined independently of the position of the tensioning member by measurement of the force F.sub.M, and the measured value can be directly incorporated into the regulation of the warp let-off.

Method and apparatus for measuring the tension of the warp in a weaving

A warp tension measuring apparatus for weaving machines or looms has a force sensor or pick-up (3) and a member (2) which is in active communication with the force sensor (3) to transfer a force acting on the members (2) onto the force sensor. The force sensor (3) is provided with a resilient element (9) to improve the introduction of force, on the one hand, and to damp mechanical oscillations, on the other hand.

Warp tension measuring apparatus

In the method, a reed (3) for a weaving machine is continuously driven from a drive means (2) and the kinetic energy of the reed is stored in order to reduce the drive energy. The apparatus comprises an energy storer (1) and a drive means (2) in order to move the reed (3) back and forth. The matched oscillatable system formed by the energy storer and the reed reduces the drive torque at the uniformly rotating drive means whereby a reduction of the power consumption results.

A device or holding weft threads of a series-shed loom between a weft input side and a weft output side of a rotating rotor. The device includes one thread-holding device on the input side of the rotor, and one thread-holding device on the output side of the rotor, with at least one cutting device on the input side for severing inserted weft threads. Each weft thread holding device includes a device for clamping at least one weft thread at a first end on the input side, and at a second end on the output side. Each device for clamping includes a supporting surface extending substantially parallel to the central axis of rotation of the rotor and any device two endless conveyor belts lying over one another at least inside an angle of partial revolution of said rotor between said weft thread insertion angle to a weft thread discharge angle. The two conveyor belts are guided over guide rollers, so that an inlet slot for weft threads is produced in conjunction with the supporting surface. The conveyor belts move to capture the weft threads in the direction of rotation of the rotors. The distance of the supporting surface is increased within the angle of rotation from a first distance to a greater distance, whereby the weft thread is gripped between the clamping slots and moves away with respect to the center of rotation of the rotor to a release point with respect to the rotating rotor.

Device for holding weft threads for series-shed looms

The yarn brake (1) having electromagnets (12, 12') and a brake lamella (2) has, on that side thereof that is remote from the yarn (3), a segmented layer (5) of soft ferromagnetic material. The layer (5) is effective to strengthen the magnetic attraction. Substantially platelike segments (55, 56) of the layer (5) are disposed in accordance with the operating ranges of the discrete electromagnets (12, 12') and have connections (60, 560) to one another and/or to the brake lamella (2). The connections (60) between the segments (55) are flexible. Because of the segmentation of the attraction-increasing segmented layer (5), the flexibility of the brake lamella (2) remains substantially unimpaired. The yarn brake can be released by electromagnets (12') disposed on one side of the segmented layer (5). By means of a blower (28) having nozzles (29) distributed over the length of the brake gap, fly can be removed from the braking surfaces when the yarn brake (1 ) is released periodically.

The yarn brake includes a rigid brake element and a thin flexible metal foil brake element. Controllable electromagnets are provided for moving the metal foil towards the rigid brake element and for varying the braking force of the yarn brake. During braking, the yarn is braked gently over a relatively long length while the metal foil deforms about the yarn.

Yarn brake for a weft yarn

The guide is used for parts moved as if by a shear force of a weaving machine, particularly a projectile weaving machine. The guide has a body which is reciprocably mounted relative to at least one guideway. In addition, at least one guide element is associated with the body and is movable transversely of the guideway during imposition of an eccentric loading on the body which causes the body to turn within the guideway about the axis of the guideway.

The arrangement is operative to pick at least one weft yarn for weaving machines and comprises a pair of weft yarn tensioning devices the second of which provides a loop of yarn whose length is equal to the length of weft yarn transferred by the main nozzle to the projectile and which is released for transfer to the projectile before the first tensioning device releases the weft yarn for picking. The second tensioning device draws back an equally long portion of the weft yarn after picking. The arrangement prevents a weft yarn end from not being transferred from the nozzle to the projectile so that the weft yarn is not picked.

Picking arrangement for a weaving machine

The projectile weaving machine has a return conveyor disposed between a catcher and a picking mechanism. In addition, a cutting device is provided on the catcher side for severing the weft yarn end before the release of the weft yarn end from the projectile. A blowing nozzle and suction tube are located either adjacent to the cutting device on the catching side or adjacent to a lift on the picking side in order to remove the severed weft yarn end from a projectile when the projectile is subsequently opened.
