Multiple layer interlayers having enhanced optical and acoustic properties are provided, along with methods of making and using the same. Interlayers as described herein may include at least two outer skin layers and an inner core layer, with one of the outer skin layers having a different thickness than the other at one or more locations along the interlayer. The multi-layer interlayer may also exhibit acoustic properties and, in some cases, may have an overall wedged thickness profile. Additionally, in some aspects, interlayers and laminates formed therefrom may also provide reduced infrared energy transmission, without sacrificing acoustic and/or optical performance.

Wedge-shaped multi-layer interlayer with outer skin layers of varying thickness

Multiple layer interlayers comprising pairs of alternating polymer layers are provided, along with methods of making and using the same. Multiple layer interlayers according to embodiments of the present invention may include more than three polymer layers and may exhibit desirable acoustic and optical properties, which may make them suitable for use in various types of multiple layer panels, including safety glass for automotive and architectural applications.

Multiple layer interlayers having enhanced properties

A thermoplastic molding composition suitable for preparing molded articles having improved properties, most notably high ductility and impact strength at low temperature, is disclosed. The composition contains a resinous blend of aromatic polycarbonate and a mixture of at least two grafted rubbers. The mixture of grafted rubbers contains a &ldquo;small-mode&rdquo; component having a weight average particle size of less than 0.3 microns and a &ldquo;large-mode&rdquo; component having a weight average particle size of 0.3 microns or larger. The inventive composition is characterized in the absence of flaky filler having an aspect ratio is at least 1.7 and particle size of 1-100 microns therefrom.
