The system also includes a software download manager in communication with the broadcast management system. The software download manager generates an announcement file and a download resolution file. The download manager communicates the announcement file. The user device has user device identifier data and receives the download resolution file in response to the announcement file and stores the software image in the user device in response to the download resolution file.

Method and apparatus for managing software downloads in a broadcast communication system

A method and system for accessing content includes a user device and a subscription manager that generates a first identifier associated with a first content in a first format and a second identifier associated with the first content in a second format. The system also includes a conditional access system that communicates a first identifier, the second identifier and rules to the user device. Further, the server selectively receives a modification message to modify the enhanced content data associated with the information from the access device. The server then updates the database based upon the modification message.

On-line directory assistance system

An approach for providing retrieval of information over a packet switched network is disclosed. A client is configured to transmit a request message for information over the packet switched network. A stateless-server is configured to communicate with the client and to forward a portion of the information to the client in response to the request message, wherein the client transmits a selection message specifying whether the remaining portion of the information should be retrieved from the server. The server selectively forwards the remaining portion of the information to the client. The above approach has particular applicability to a communication system providing directory assistance services.
