Compositions are proposed which comprise folic acid in combination with 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, and also compositions which comprise folic acid, 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid and/or 5-methyltetrahydrofolylpolyglutamate and also comprise a dietary component and/or a nutrient preparation, and their use is also proposed.

The use of solubilized carotenoid preparations is described for coloring foods, wherein solubilized carotenoid preparations are used which are produced by heating a suspension comprising from 1 to 40% by weight of one or more carotenoids, from 20 to 90% by weight of one or more nonionogenic emulsifiers and from 0 to 50% by weight of other additives to from 120 to 200&deg; C. for a short time and turbulently mixing the homogeneous solution with amounts of water or an aqueous solution comprising hydrophilic antioxidants with or without other surface-active additives at from 10 to 95&deg; C. to form a solubilized preparation having a carotenoid content of from 0.5 to 10% by weight.

Use of solubilized carotenoid preparations for coloring food preparations

Process for producing riboflavin granules or riboflavin microgranules with a riboflavin content of from 90 to 99.5% by weight and with a particle size range from 50 to 450 .mu.m, which entails adding during the granulation at least one auxiliary selected from the group consisting of alkali metal and alkaline earth metal halides, alkali metal and alkaline earth metal carbonates, alkali metal and alkaline earth metal bicarbonates, alkali metal and alkaline earth metal phosphates, crosslinked cellulose and cellulose derivatives and crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone in amounts of from 0.5 to 10% by weight, all % by weight data being based in each case on the dry product.

Process for producing riboflavin-containing granules

A stable oil-in-water emulsion suitable for parenteral administration, containing less than 10% by weight lecithin, consisting of an aqueous phase and of an oil phase which is very finely dispersed by means of a physiologically tolerated emulsifier and which contains at least one carotenoid and is based on a physiologically tolerated oil or fat and comprises as emulsifier polyoxyethylene/polyoxypropylene block polymers and/or lecithin, and wherein the carotenoid is present in the oil phase in a concentration above the saturation solubility of the carotenoid in the oil or fat at room temperature.

Stable carotenoid emulsions suitable for parenteral administration

Finely dispersed carotenoid or retinoid suspensions are prepared by dissolving the carotenoid or retinoid in a volatile, water-miscible organic solvent at 50.degree. C.-250.degree. C., where appropriate under elevated pressure, within less than 10 sec and immediately thereafter mixing the solution with an aqueous medium at from 0 to 90.degree. C., wherein the mixing with the aqueous medium takes place in the absence of a protective colloid and in the presence of at least one physiologically tolerated emulsifier.
