A plumbing system for generating electrical power, including a hydroelectric generator assembly configured to generate power, a power source arranged in parallel with the hydroelectric generator assembly, and an interconnecting power harness in communication with the hydroelectric generator assembly and the power source. The plumbing system additionally includes a plumbing fixture in communication with the interconnecting power harness. The plumbing fixture includes a valve and a sensor configured to detect the presence of a user. The hydroelectric generator assembly is configured to provide power to the valve.

The electronic processor is configured to monitor a current position of the switch. The electronic processor is also configured to, in response to determining that the current position of the switch is opened, determine a status of the end point device and provide a visual indication of the status of the end point device.

A thermal isolation arrangement for an LED lamp is disclosed. Embodiments of the invention provide thermal isolation between the power supply and the LED assembly of an LED lamp, in most cases allowing the power supply to operate in a lower temperature range than would otherwise be possible. At least one contact feature is provided between the power supply and the LED assembly to maintain a thermal transfer gap between the power supply and the LED assembly. A contact feature can be, for example, a triangular ridge or a conical protrusion. In some embodiments, a thermal isolation device provides the contact feature or contact features. An LED lamp according to example embodiments of the invention can have a modular design and/or can include an Edison base and/or an optical element or optical elements disposed to emit light from the LED lamp.

Heat management devices and structures are disclosed that can be used in lamps having solid state light sources such as one or more LEDs. Some lamp embodiments comprise one or more phase change radiators that utilize the latent heat of fluids to circulate and draw heat away from the LEDs and radiate the heat into the ambient, allowing for the LEDs to operate at a lower temperature. Some phase change radiators according to the present invention can comprise a main radiator body and multiple radiator coolant loops mounted to the body. The present invention relies on the circulation of heated fluid through the radiator body to radiate heat from the LEDs. The heated liquid moves away from the LEDs and is circulated back to thermal contact with the LEDs thought the coolant loops.

A light emitting diode package mounting apparatus comprises a heatsink defining a surface comprising one of a male or female connector. An LED package has a base where a portion of the base defines the other of the female or male connector. The connectors engage one another such that a force is exerted on the base that presses the LED package against the surface. To assemble the LED package in the heat sink, the LED package is located on the surface. The LED package and heatsink are moved relative to one another such that the male connector is inserted into the female connector.

Solid state lamps and bulbs comprising different combinations and arrangements of a light source, one or more wavelength conversion materials, regions or layers which are positioned separately or remotely with respect to the light source, and a separate diffuser. These are arranged on a heat sink in a manner that allows for the fabrication of lamps and bulbs that are efficient, reliable and cost effective and can provide an essentially omnidirectional emission pattern, even with a light source comprised of a co-planar arrangement of LEDs. Additionally, this arrangement allows aesthetic masking or concealment of the appearance of the conversion regions or layers when the lamp is not illuminated. Various embodiments of the invention may be used to address many of the difficulties associated with utilizing efficient solid state light sources such as LEDs in the fabrication of lamps or bulbs suitable for direct replacement of traditional incandescent bulbs. Embodiments of the invention can be arranged to fit recognized standard size profiles such as those ascribed to commonly used lamps such as incandescent light bulbs, while still providing emission patterns that comply with ENERGY STAR&#xae; standards.

The present disclosure relates to a heat transfer bracket that is configured to mount to a lighting fixture, which includes a heat spreading structure that is formed from a material that efficiently conducts heat and a light source and control electronics that are thermally coupled to the heat spreading structure. The heat transfer bracket includes a base that is thermally coupled to the heat spreading structure of the lighting fixture and multiple petals that extend from the base, wherein heat generated from the light source and control electronics is transferred to the heat spreading structure and from the heat spreading structure to the base of the heat transfer bracket. The heat is then further transferred along the plurality of petals.
