A method for making a packaging material includes jetting a first pulp stock onto a wire to form a strength layer precursor including water; and softwood fibers, the first pulp stock excluding a water soluble di-valent or multi-valent salt. A second pulp stock is jetted onto a second wire to form an image layer precursor including water; hardwood fibers; and a water soluble di-valent or multi-valent salt present in an amount ranging from about 5 lb per ton of total fibers in the second pulp stock to about 50 lb per ton of the total fibers in the second pulp stock. The image layer precursor and the strength layer precursor are placed in contact. Water is removed from the image and strength layer precursors. The image layer precursor and the strength layer precursor are dried to form the packaging material including an image layer and a strength layer.

A graphics medium may have an ink receiving layer with at least fifty percent hydrogel by weight and an opacity control layer with a polymer embedded with at least one filler material.

A printable recording media containing a substrate; a pre-coat layer including more than about 60 wt % of one or more inorganic pigments by total dry weight of the pre-coat layer; a topcoating layer including more than about 60 wt % of one or more inorganic pigments; up to 25 wt % of binders and up to about 5 wt % of a combination of natural and synthetic rheology modifiers, by total weight of the top-coating layer, wherein the ratio of the amount of natural rheology modifiers to the amount of synthetic rheology modifiers is from about 90:10 to about 50:50. Printable recording media

A recording medium and a method for making the recording medium are disclosed. The recording medium includes a core substrate. The core substrate includes a base having two opposed surfaces. The base includes from about 40% to about 70% organic material and from about 30% to about 60% inorganic material. The core substrate also includes a mineral coating layer disposed on one or both of the two opposed surfaces of the base. The mineral coating layer has a water-soluble or water-dispersible binder and mineral materials. An adhesion layer is disposed on the mineral coating layer. A surface treatment layer is disposed on the adhesion layer, and the surface treatment layer includes organic fibrous material.

Recording medium and method for making the same

Embodiments provide treated print media, treatment compositions, and methods for forming treated print media. In some embodiments, a treated print medium may include a substrate and a treatment layer on the substrate, the treatment layer including microfibrils and an ink-fixing agent. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

The present disclosure provides recording media and related methods. A recording media for printing can comprise a base paper and a backside extruded polyethylene layer on a side of the base paper. The backside extruded polyethylene layer can include a filler and an organic reagent admixed in the extruded polyethylene layer, wherein the filler and organic reagent are present in the backside extruded polyethylene layer in an amount of 20% by weight to 50% by weight based on the total weight of the backside extruded polyethylene layer.

Recording media

In one example, a print medium includes pigment particles sized less than a hundred nanometers and frictional control additives. An undercoating is disposed between the base material and top coating. The undercoat includes a first sub-layer comprising a pigment fixative agent and a second sub-layer comprising a dye fixative agent. The top coating forms a protective and low friction coating over the undercoating.

Described herein is a composition that can be used for treating media. The composition includes an organosilane treated water dispersible organic acid salt, a water soluble organic acid salt, a chelating agent, and an optical brightening agent.

A printable recording media including a supporting base substrate having, on its image side, a pre-coating layer that contains inorganic pigments and polymeric binders, and a top ink-receiving layer that includes inorganic pigments, polymeric binders and non-film forming polymers; and, having a polymer barrier layer on its backside. The present disclosure is drawn to coated media substrates, as well as related systems and methods. In one example, a coated media substrate for inkjet ink printing can comprise an ink-receiving layer coated on at least one side of a substrate, and can be formulated for accepting an inkjet ink composition. The ink-receiving layer can comprise an optical brightening agent, an organic acid salt, a binder, a pigment, and a low-molecular weight polymeric carrier having a weighted average molecular weight less than 50,000 Mw.

A post-treatment solution for digital inkjet printing includes polymer particulates having a minimum film-forming temperature that is at least 50&#xb0; C., a film-forming agent, and a liquid carrier. The film-forming agent is selected from the group consisting of citrate compounds, sebacate compounds, ethoxy alcohols, glycol oligomers, glycol polymers, glycol ether, glycerol acetals, and cyclic amides. A print medium, printing method, and printing system are also disclosed herein.

Post-treatment solution for digital inkjet printing

An inkjet recording medium includes a substrate, an intermediate layer disposed on the substrate, and an ink receiving layer disposed on the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer includes a binder, an inorganic pigment, and a pigment ink fixing agent chosen from divalent salts, multivalent salts, and combinations thereof. The ink receiving layer includes a non-film forming polymer, a binder chosen from any of water dispersible binders or water soluble binders, and a pigment.

A photo media may comprise a substrate, the substrate having an image receiving side and a non-image receiving side, an extruded barrier layer disposed on the non-image receiving side of the substrate, and a laminate layer disposed on the image receiving side of the substrate after an ink layer is printed. The photo media may further comprise an image receiving layer disposed on the image receiving side of the substrate between the substrate and the laminate layer.
