Implantable devices for fixation of curved bone such as the pelvic ring pubic symphysis and acetabulum, and methods for the use of the devices are disclosed. The implantable devices are convertible between a flexible state and a rigid state, and include an elongate structure having a proximal bone interface, a main body, and a distal bone interface. In a flexible state, the devices may be inserted along, and conform to a curved pathway, and in the rigid state, the devices may support the mechanical loads required to fixate a fracture.

Shape adaptable intramedullary fixation device

A gas removal apparatus and a method for removing gas bubbles from at least a part of a medical device disposed in an interior chamber of a gas removal apparatus. The gas removal apparatus includes an interior chamber, a filling surface, a first opening arranged at an end of the filling surface and that provides a first path into the interior chamber, and a second opening that provides a second path into the interior chamber. When the apparatus is arranged in a liquid receiving position, at least a portion of the at least the part of the medical device is disposed above an uppermost surface of liquid in the interior chamber, and when the apparatus is arranged in another position different from the liquid receiving position, the entirety of the at least the part of the medical device is disposed below an uppermost surface of liquid in the interior chamber.

Medical device flushing systems and methods

In at least a medical system including a structure, a plurality of transducers located on the structure, a shaft member configured to percutaneously deliver the structure to a location within a patient, a plurality of conductors at least partially within the shaft member and coupled to the transducers, and a controller operatively coupled to the transducers via the conductors, the controller may cause first electrical power to be delivered to one or more of the transducers for a first period of time, where second electrical power less than the first electrical power, if delivered for a second period of time longer than the first period time would result in a steady-state temperature of a portion of the shaft member that would be just below a safe temperature limit for at least the portion of the shaft member.

Medical device systems and methods for activating transducers based on delivery shaft member temperature

A hammer drill attachment is provided for attachment to a bi-directional surgical drill. The attachment comprises a lengthwise adapter to engage a chuck of the surgical drill, a transmission mechanism, and a quick-release mechanism. The transmission mechanism comprises a pair of toothed plates, the teeth of a proximal plate configured to permit engagement with the teeth of a distal plate. When the proximal plate rotates in a first direction, the proximal plate transmits a rotational motion to the distal plate. When the proximal plate rotates in a second direction, the proximal plate transmits an axial percussive force to the distal plate. The quick-release mechanism comprises a socket to receive a collet, a socket seater, and a latching arm to move the socket seater with respect to the socket, thereby seating or unseating the collet in the socket.
