The present disclosure provides for spinal implants and plates including, for example, expandable plates deployable between a contracted position and an expanded position. The expandable plate may include an expandable body including a first portion and a second portion. The first portion may include a receiving cavity facing the proximal end, and a first through aperture extending in the proximal-to-distal direction. The second portion may include a lower end having a size and shape that corresponds to the receiving cavity, and a second through aperture extending in the proximal-to-distal direction. The expandable plate may include a locking screw and a nut. In at least some embodiments, in a locked position, the locking screw extends through the first through aperture and second through aperture, and is secured to the nut. In various embodiments, in an expanded position the first portion and second portion are farther away from one another relative to a contracted position.

Expandable inter-body device, expandable plate system, and associated methods

A surgical system for adjusting a segment of a spine is disclosed. The system may include a rack arm extending in a longitudinal direction from a first end to a second end, and a sliding body portion including a ratcheting mechanism selectively engageable with a spline portion of the rack arm. The system may include a first actuator for translating the sliding body along the rack arm in the longitudinal direction. The system may include a first and second connection tower extending along a first and second axis, respectively, that are each transverse to the longitudinal direction. The system may further include a second actuator including a threaded screw for adjusting the first connection tower along a first axis. In some embodiments, the second actuator is configured to raise and lower the first connection tower in a sagittal plane.

Surgical system and method for treating vertebral segments with uneven pedicles

Various surgical tools having a movable handle mechanism including a positioning handle are disclosed. The movable handle mechanism may be configured to move forward and backward in a longitudinal direction along the housing and rotate clockwise and counterclockwise around the housing. In various embodiments, the housing may include a plurality of channels and each channel may have at least one detent. The movable handle mechanism may be configured to securely couple to the housing via one channel of the plurality of channels and one detent of the plurality of detents. At least one surgical tool may include a drill having an angled tip portion and a sleeve configured to protect adjacent structures from lateral edges of the drill bit when the drill bit is rotating. Another surgical tool may include a screwdriver having an elastic retaining clip configured to progressively release a bone screw therein at an extraction force.

Surgery instruments with a movable handle

Expandable spinal implants, systems and methods are disclosed. An expandable spinal implant may include a first endplate, a second endplate, and a moving mechanism that is operably coupled to the first and second endplates. The moving mechanism may include a wedge, a first sliding frame and a second sliding frame disposed on opposite sides of the wedge, a screw guide housing a rotatable first set screw and a rotatable second set screw opposite the first set screw. The first set screw may be operably coupled to the second sliding frame and the second set screw may be operably coupled to the wedge. The moving mechanism may operably adjust a spacing between the first and second endplates upon simultaneous rotation of the first and second set screws and operably adjust an angle of inclination between the first and second endplates upon translating the first set screw or second set screw.

Expandable inter-body device, system and method

The present disclosure provides for spinal implants deployable between a contracted position and an expanded position. The spinal implant may include a first endplate and a second endplate, each having a plurality of guide walls and inclined ramps. The spinal implant may further include a moving mechanism having first and second trolleys configured to act against the first and second plurality of ramps. The expansion mechanism may further include a first set screw and a second set screw opposite the first set screw. The moving mechanism may be configured to operably adjust a spacing between the first and second endplates upon simultaneous rotation of the first and second set screws along a rotation axis, and may also operably adjust an angle of inclination between the first and second endplates upon rotating the first set screw or second set screw along the rotation axis.

An expandable implant movable between a contracted position and an expanded position, is disclosed. In various embodiments, the implant may be defined by a superior endplate and an inferior endplate having proximal ramps and distal ramps disposed on an interior surface thereof, respectively. In various embodiments, a proximal set screw and a distal set screw may be independently coupled to a proximal wedge and a distal wedge. Upon rotation of the proximal set screw, the proximal wedge may act against the proximal ramps of the superior and inferior endplates and cause the implant to expand at the proximal end. Upon rotation of the distal set screw, the distal wedge may act against the distal ramps of the superior and inferior endplates and cause the implant to expand at the distal end. In some embodiments, both the superior and distal set screws may be rotated simultaneously.

Dual wedge expandable implant, system and method of use

Disclosed screwdrivers may include a rotatable drive shaft having a drive portion disposed at a distal end thereof, and a drive end disposed at a proximal end thereof. Disclosed screwdrivers may include an angled tip portion that is angled with respect to the longitudinal direction, and a mechanism configured to transfer a rotational force applied to the drive portion of the drive shaft through the angled tip portion to the drive end of the drive shaft. Disclosed screwdrivers may include an elastic retaining clip configured to have a bone screw securely attached therein at a clipping force and progressively release the bone screw therein at an extraction force. Disclosed screwdrivers may include at least one spring contacting the elastic retaining clip and the angled tip portion that is configured to facilitate the progressive release of the bone screw.

Screw driver and complimentary screws

A surgical system includes a first implant support that is engageable with a receiver of a first fastener having a shaft fixed with vertebral tissue. At least one adaptor includes a first adaptor extending longitudinally along and being engageable with the first implant support. The first adaptor is oriented to releasably engage a surgical instrument to distract and/or compress the vertebral tissue. An angulation module is connected to at least one of the first adaptor, the first implant support and the surgical instrument. Surgical instruments, constructs, implants and methods are disclosed.

Surgical system

An expandable implant movable between a contracted position and an expanded position, is disclosed. In various embodiments, the implant may be defined by a superior endplate and an inferior endplate having proximal ramps and distal ramps disposed on an interior surface thereof, respectively. The expandable body may include a beveled hook portion at a distal end thereof. In various embodiments, upon rotation of a proximal set screw, a proximal wedge may act against the proximal ramps of the superior and inferior endplates and cause the implant to expand at the proximal end. Upon rotation of a distal set screw, a distal wedge may act against the distal ramps of the superior and inferior endplates and cause the implant to expand at the distal end. In some embodiments, both the superior and distal set screws may be rotated simultaneously.

Dual expanding spinal implant, system, and method of use

Expandable spinal implants, systems and methods are disclosed. An expandable spinal implant may include a proximal end plate, a superior endplate, an inferior endplate, and a moving mechanism that is operably coupled to the superior and inferior endplates. The proximal end plate may include at least one bone screw aperture configured to orient a bone screw across a bone screw relief of the superior endplate and/or inferior endplate. The moving mechanism may include a wedge, a first sliding frame, a second sliding frame, a screw guide housing a rotatable first set screw and a rotatable second set screw. A spacing between the superior and inferior endplates may be adjusted upon simultaneous rotation of the first and second set screws and an angle of inclination between the superior and inferior endplates may be adjusted upon translating either of the first set screw and second set screw.

Expandable inter-body device, system, and method

A retractor system for enabling access to a surgical site is disclosed. The retractor system may include a primary retractor assembly configured to open and close a first arm and a second arm along a first path of travel. The primary retractor assembly may include a handle assembly having first and second handles configured to open and close the first and second arms, and the first and second arms may be operably coupled to first and second blades, respectively. The retractor system may further include a secondary retractor assembly configured to couple and uncouple with the primary retractor assembly and independently extend and contract a third arm and optionally a fourth arm. The third arm and optional fourth arm may be operably coupled to third and fourth blades, respectively. The inclination of each blade may be independently adjusted and each arm may also be independently moved.

Tissue retractor

A spinal construct includes a first endplate that is configured to engage a first vertebral surface. An expandable member is connected with the first endplate and includes a mating element. A second endplate is configured to engage a second vertebral surface and includes an in-situ guide surface engageable with the mating element to connect the member with the second endplate. Systems and methods are disclosed.

Spinal construct and method

A spinal implant includes a first member defining a longitudinal axis and including a wall that defines an axial cavity. The first member further defines at least one lateral cavity configured for disposal of an instrument and is oriented transverse relative to the longitudinal axis. A second member includes an axial surface defining gear teeth and being configured for disposal with the axial cavity such that the teeth are offset from the longitudinal axis. The instrument is engageable with the teeth to axially translate the second member relative to the first member. Surgical instruments, systems and methods are disclosed.
