An elevator car of an elevator system includes a car body and a car frame supportive of the car body. The car frame includes two opposing side frames, each side frame formed from a plurality of side frame segments, including two upright members and one or more upright braces connecting the two upright members, adjacent side frame segments secured to each other via a joint. A method of installation of an elevator car of an elevator system includes positioning a first side frame segment of a plurality of side frame segments adjacent to second side frame segment of the plurality of side frame segments, and securing the first side frame segment to the second side frame segment via a splice joint thereby constructing a car frame of the elevator car. One or more car bodies are installed into the car frame.

Elevator car frame assembly

An elevator car of an elevator system includes a car body, and a car frame supportive of the car body. The car frame includes two or more opposing upright assemblies, a crosshead assembly located above the car body, and a plank assembly located below the car body. A plurality of seismic retainers are located at each of the upright assemblies. The plurality of seismic retainers are configured for a non-contact relationship with a guide rail of the elevator system during normal operation of the elevator system, and configured to react guide rail loads during a sway event via contact with the guide rail.

Elevator seismic performance apparatus

An illustrative example elevator system includes a frame, a first elevator cab, a second elevator cab, and a plurality of sheaves associated with the first and second elevator cabs, respectively. A suspension assembly suspends the first and second elevator cabs within the frame. The suspension assembly has two ends in a fixed position relative to the frame. The suspension assembly includes a positive drive load bearing member along a first portion of a length of the suspension assembly and at least one other second load bearing member. A machine includes a drive sprocket that moves the positive drive load bearing member to cause movement of the first and second elevator cabs relative to the frame.

A gas turbine engine includes a stator stage arranged in a core flow path that includes a vane that is configured to be retractable from the core flow path during engine operation.

An illustrative example elevator assembly includes a first elevator cab and a second elevator cab. An H frame supports the first elevator cab and the second elevator cab. The H frame has a plurality of vertically oriented beams and at least one horizontally oriented beam extending between the vertically oriented beams. The at least one horizontally oriented beam is spaced from ends of the vertically oriented beams and the H frame does not have any horizontally oriented beam at either end of the vertically oriented beams. At least one linear actuator is coupled with the first elevator cab and the second elevator cab. The linear actuator is configured to selectively cause movement of the elevator cabs relative to the H frame.

H frame for a double deck elevator

A vane support system includes a frame and a vane. The frame has a first end configured to engage to a first platform and a second end configured to engage a second platform, so the frame can structurally support at least one of the first platform and the second platform. The first and second ends define a vane axis therebetween. The vane is mounted to the frame about the vane axis. A gas turbine engine includes a case defining a centerline axis of the engine, an inner housing and a plurality of variable vanes. The inner housing is radially inward of the case with respect to the centerline axis. At least one of the variable vanes structurally supports the case and the inner housing in response to at least one of radial, axial or tangential loads with respect to the centerline axis.

Vane support systems

An exemplary elevator system includes an elevator car. At least one guiderail is situated for guiding movement of the elevator car. A machine mount is supported by the guiderail near a top of the guiderail. A car stop is supported on the elevator car. The car stop is selectively moveable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the car stop allows the elevator car to travel to a maximum vertical position. In the second position the car stop is situated to contact the machine mount to prevent the elevator car from reaching the maximum vertical position.
