A power transfer system is provided. The power transfer system includes a field-focusing element including a dielectric material. The dielectric material includes a ceramic material and a polymer material. The ceramic material includes an oxide compound comprising titanium and the polymer material includes a resin.

Dielectric materials for power transfer systems

A contactless power transfer system is proposed. The power transfer system comprises a field-focusing element comprising a dielectric material. The dielectric material includes an oxide material including (MgSr)TiO, wherein x can vary between the value of zero and 1 such that 0&#x2266;x&#x2266;1, and y can be 0, 1, or 2. A power transfer system further including a first coil coupled to a power source and a second coil coupled to a load is disclosed. In this system, the field-focusing element including the dielectric material is disposed between the first coil and the second coil.

Dielectric materials for power transfer system

A contactless power transfer system is proposed. The power transfer system comprises a field-focusing element comprising a dielectric material. The dielectric material comprises a composition that is selected from the family of (Ba,Sr)TiOor CaCuTiO. The compositions of the (Ba, Sr)TiOinclude the materials such as CaBaSrTiCrON, wherein 0&#x3c;x&#x3c;1; 0&#x3c;y&#x3c;1; 0&#x2266;z&#x2266;0.01; 0&#x2266;&#x3b4;&#x2266;1; and 0&#x2266;p&#x2266;1. The compositions of the CaCuTiOinclude the materials such as CaBaSr(CaCu)CuTiAlO, wherein 0&#x2266;x&#x3c;0.5; 0&#x2266;y&#x3c;0.5; 0&#x2266;z&#x3c;1; and 0&#x2266;&#x3b4;&#x2266;0.1.

A resonator in the Swiss-roll structure, method of making the resonator structure and the system employing the resonator are disclosed. The resonator includes a plurality of layers, including a ceramic layer and a metallic layer. The ceramic and metallic layers are configured in a Swiss-roll form such that the neighboring ceramic layers are separated by the metallic layer. Further, the ceramic layer includes materials that have a dielectric constant of at least about 10 and dielectric loss tangent less than about 0.01 in the frequency range of about 1 KHz to about 100 MHz. The method of forming the resonator includes the steps of disposing a metallic layer, depositing a dielectric ceramic layer, and forming a Swiss-roll structure of the metallic and ceramic layers. Alternate method includes swaging the dielectric material filled metal tubes and forming into Swiss-rolls. Further steps include heat treating the resultant Swiss-roll structure in vacuum, inert atmosphere, or reducing atmosphere to form a monolithic Swiss-roll structure, such that the air gap between turns of the Swiss-roll structure is less than about 1 &#x3bc;m.

Resonator structures and method of making

A dielectric material is provided. The material includes CaBaSrTiCrOA, wherein A is nitrogen, fluorine, or combinations thereof; x and y can vary between the value of zero and one such that 0&#x3c;x&#x3c;1 and 0&#x3c;y&#x3c;1; z can vary between the value of zero and 0.01 such that 0&#x2266;z&#x2266;0.01; and &#x3b4; and p can vary between the value of zero and one such that 0&#x2266;&#x3b4;&#x2266;1 and 0&#x2266;p&#x2266;1, with a proviso that z and p are not simultaneously zero. A dielectric component including the dielectric material and a system including the dielectric component are provided.

The material includes &#x3b1;[CaBaSr(CaCu)CuLaTiMO]+(1&#x2212;&#x3b1;)[BaSrTiO], wherein M is aluminum, chromium, zirconium, or combinations thereof; x can vary between the value of zero and 0.1 such that 0&#x2266;x&#x2266;0; y, z, and r can vary between the value of zero and 1 such that 0&#x2266;y&#x2266;1, 0&#x2266;z&#x2266;1, and 0&#x2266;r&#x2266;1; p and q can vary between the value of zero and 0.1 such that 0&#x2266;p&#x2266;0.1 and 0&#x2266;q&#x2266;0.1; &#x3b4; can vary between the value of zero and 0.05 such that 0&#x2266;&#x3b4;&#x2266;0.05; and &#x3b1; can vary between the value of 0.5 and 1 such that 0.5&#x2266;&#x3b1;&#x2266;1, with a proviso that when x=y=0 and z=&#x3b1;=1, p and q are greater than zero; and when x=y=z=0, p and q are not simultaneously zero. A dielectric component including the dielectric material and a system including the dielectric component are provided.
