A toner comprising toner particles having at least one type of surface additive, the toner particles having an FPIA average circularity of at least 0.95, whereby at least 80% wt of the total amount of surface additives stays onto the surface of the toner particles when an ultrasonic treatment of 4500 to 4700 J/gram of toner is applied; a substrate printed or marked with the above-described toner; and a method for manufacturing a toner, said method including the steps of: mixing a binder resin, a colorant and optionally other additives, thereby forming a mixture, melting, kneading and milling said mixture, thereby obtaining a melted kneaded product, pulverizing said melted kneaded product, adding at least one surface additive before or while bringing the FPIA average circularity of said toner particles to 0.95 by modifying the shape or surface of said particles, wherein the total amount of surface additive does not exceed 2% wt of toner particles, whereby at least 80% wt of the total amount of surface additive stays on the surface of the toner particles when an ultrasonic treatment of 4500 to 4700 J/gram of toner is applied.

A radiation curable toner is described having at least a radiation curable binder (e.g. a UV curable polymer), a photoinitiator, and a wax; wherein the wax is present in a concentration ranging from 0.3 to 3% by weight. The ratio of scratch resistance before curing is preferably at least 2. The toner may be used in a developer, e.g. a two-component developer, for printing or copying.

The present invention provides dry toner particles comprising at least a radiation curable resin, and a colouring agent, wherein the circularity of the toner particles is between 0.95 and 0.99 and a charge control agent in a concentration between 0.025% and 1.0% by weight is present preferably as an external additive. The toners of this invention are useful for printing any substrate and for use in any form of printing or marking device.

A toner composition is provided wherein by adding aliphatic lower molecular weight compounds which are partly or completely compatible with the binder resin(s), the melt viscosity of the toner composition can be lowered while the glass transition temperature (Tg) is more or less constant. Inclusion of these adding aliphatic lower molecular weight compounds, having a number average molecular weight, as measured by GPC in toluene, of from 500 to 3,000, results in toner compositions with a better adhesion and gloss and still an acceptable level of FOT and hot-offset. Also provide is a method for fixing toner images on a substrate.

A method is disclosed for verifying the printing quality of a lithographic printing plate which is obtained by a plate-making process whereby an ink-receptive silver image is formed at the printing areas, characterized in that said method comprises the step of matching the color of the silver image of said plate with a plurality of reference colors contained in a color reference system that provides information regarding the quality of silver-based lithographic printing plates having said reference colors. The color reference system may also provide information regarding the parameter(s) of the plate-making process so that said parameter(s) can be adjusted in order to improve the quality of the plates obtained by said process.

A lithographic printing plate that works according to the silver salt diffusion transfer reversal process is disclosed. The lithographic properties of said plate can be improved by incorporating a hydrophilic amphoteric block copolymer, comprising a non-ionic block of acrylic units with pendant nitrile groups and an acrylamid(in)e block which comprises units with pendant basic and acidic groups. The hydrophilic amphoteric block copolymer is preferentially present in the image receiving layer of the lithographic printing plate. In an alternative embodiment, said block copolymer may be present in a treating solution used for processing said plate or applied onto said plate while printing. The hydrophilicity of the printing plate's surface is improved without deteriorating the ink-acceptance in the printing areas.

The present invention provides a correcting liquid for silver imaged lithographic printing plates being an aqueous solution having a pH in the range between 5.5 and 8.5 and comprising a iron (III) complex salt of an organic acid, a sulphite or a metabisulphite, a silver halide solvent and an accelerator, said accelerator being an organic heterocyclic compound having a mercapto- or thione group and not having a hydrophilic substituent besides the said mercapto or thione group characterized in that said accelerator is present in an amount ranging from 0.04 to 0.4 mole per liter of correcting liquid.
