A device may receive service information associated with an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) service. The IMS service may be provided via an IMS network. The service information may include information that identifies a terminating device that is to receive the IMS service. The device may cause registration trigger information to be provided to the terminating device based on receiving the service information. The registration trigger information may be provided to the terminating device to cause the terminating device to register to the IMS network to allow the terminating device to receive the IMS service.

On-demand registration for internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) services

A device is configured to receive an alarm message from a particular device that received a radio resource control request from a client device. The alarm message may indicate that a threshold access limit to an operator network is satisfied by the client device or that a particular protocol is being used by the client device. The device may determine a policy associated with the client device. The policy may indicate a policy rule associated with a policy action to be taken if the policy rule is violated. The device may determine the policy rule is violated based on the alarm message received from the particular device. The device may instruct the particular device to perform the policy action, by accepting or rejecting the radio resource control request, based on the policy rule being violated.

Controlling access to an operator network by non-conforming devices

A call session control function (CSCF) receives, from a first user device engaged in a call with a second user device, a first Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling message piggybacked with first data related to a voice quality of an inbound direction of the call at the first user device. The CSCF receives, from a second user device engaged in the call with the first user device, a second SIP signaling message piggybacked with second data related to a voice quality of an inbound direction of the call at the second user device. The CSCF extracts the first data related to the voice quality from the first SIP signaling message, and extracts the second data related to the voice quality from the second SIP signaling message. A charging collection function (CCF) determines a bi-directional voice quality of the call based on the first data and the second data.

Voice quality data piggybacking on SIP signaling messages

A device receives application information associated with applications provided by a network, and determines service package identifiers for one or more applications identified in the application information. The device also receives information associated with devices and subscribers of the network, and determines security key parameters based on the information associated with the devices and the subscribers of the network. The device further generates, based on the security key parameters, a security key for each of the service package identifiers.

An approach is provided for receiving a voice-based emergency call and routing it to a local Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) along with anchoring information identifying the caller and their location. The PSAP may provide options for the caller to choose to use non-voice-based messaging service concurrent with the voice-based emergency call. If the caller desires and chooses to communicate via non-voice-based messages, then a text messaging application at the PSAP is used to communicate with the caller. The PSAP utilizes the anchoring information obtained from the concurrent voice-based emergency call when communicating with the caller.

Method and apparatus for extended emergency service

A device monitors a session description protocol (SDP) parameter associated with a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) call provided via a network and a user equipment, and determines, based on the SDP parameter, whether the VoIP call changed from an active state to a hold state or from a hold state to an active state. The device also sends, after the VoIP call is determined to change from an active state to a hold state, a session initiation protocol (SIP) keep alive message to the user equipment to prevent the user equipment from entering a dormant state and to prevent a radio link connection between the user equipment and the network from being released.

A system may include one or more network devices. The one or more network devices may receive a short message service (SMS) message intended for an access terminal, embed the SMS message into a data message, determine whether a data session exists with the access terminal, the data session occurring over a data network, transmit the data message to the access terminal via the data network when the data session exists, and transmit the SMS message via a voice network when the data session does not exist.

A method includes a network device receiving a request from a user, to deliver a short messaging service (SMS) message, to another user, where the other user is roaming; sending, to a first device, a user registration query; receiving, from the first device and by the network device, a user registration response, where the user registration response indicates whether the other user, in which the SMS message is to be delivered, is registered with zero networks, one network, or two networks; forwarding, by the network device, the SMS message associated with the request, via at least one of the one network or the two networks, when the user registration response indicates that the other user is registered with at least one of the one network or the two networks; and sending to a second device, by the network device, another user registration query, when the user registration response indicates that the other user is registered with zero networks.

Short messaging service delivery architecture in hybrid LTE/CDMA/GSM networks

Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, for various telemetry applications, such as meter reading, alarm applications or the like, utilize data communication service via a public mobile/wireless communication network, such as the short message service (SMS). However, such M2M communications may involve a large number of clients. To avoid the need to assign a telephone number, such as a mobile directory number (MDN) or the like, to each of the many remote M2M clients, routing through the network is based on another type of MSID (Mobile Station Identifier), such as the MIN (Mobile Identifier Number) or the IMSI (International Mobile Station Identifier) of the client. SMS messages transmissions originating at a client use a short code for the M2M application address, and SMS messages intended to terminate at a client use the MIN or IMSI as the routing address for the M2M device.
