A robot in a location interacts with a user. The robot includes a camera, an image recognition processor, a microphone and a loudspeaker, a voice assistant, and a wireless transceiver. The robot moves around and creates a model of the location, and recognizes changes. It recognizes objects of interest, beings, and situations. The robot monitors the user and recognizes body language and gesture commands, as well as voice commands. The robot communicates with the user, the TV, and other devices. It may include environment sensors and health status sensors. It acts as a user companion by answering queries, executing commands, and issuing reminders. It may monitor to determine if the user is well. The robot may monitor objects of interest, their placement and their status. When necessary, it communicates with the user.

Autonomous robot

It may move around to monitor for regular and non-regular situations. It anticipates user commands based on a situation. It determines if a situation is desired, and mitigates the situation if undesired. It can seek immediate help for the user in an emergency. It can capture, record, categorize and document events as they happen. It can categorize and document objects in the location.

Situation-aware robot

A code is generated by a primary cloud server and sent to a device to be controlled (controlee). The code is displayed and a user speaks the code to a controller device, such as a voice assistant (VA). The controller sends the spoken code via a third party server to the primary server and if the primary server identifies the code as being correct, a first step is complete. The controlee then generates a second code, sends it to the primary server and also displays it for a user to speak it to the controller, which sends the spoken second code to the primary server via the third party server. If the primary server identifies the second code as being correct, pairing is authorized between the controller and controlee. The first and second steps should be completed within a timeout period to be valid.

Voice user interface for pairing between devices

A method consistent with certain implementation involves presenting a graphical user interface (GUI) to a user on a display, where the GUI presents a visual representation of a room that is adapted to be adjusted in size and shape by user manipulation of a controller; the GUI has a drop and drag menu adapted to selection of an object from a plurality of objects for placement at any selected position within the room; at least one of the objects comprising a loudspeaker; and where the GUI provides for input of data characterizing the loudspeaker. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Virtual room form maker

According to one embodiment of the invention, a method for secured execution of commands is described. Initially, a second electronic device authenticates a first electronic device and registers the first electronic device as a trusted device. Thereafter, up receipt of a message with one or more embedded commands, such commands are executed without any pre-established communication protocol if the message is from the registered first electronic device.

System and method for performing commands from a remote source

A method consistent with certain implementations involves in an audio system having an array of a plurality of loudspeakers and a stored speaker map identifying the geometric relationship between the plurality of loudspeakers and a listening position, identifying a location on the speaker map of a Source Origin of a sound; selecting a method of localizing the Source Origin from a plurality of methods of localizing the Source Origin utilizing the array of loudspeakers; and reproducing the sound emanating from the Source Origin using the selected method. Audio speaker selection for optimization of sound origin

A wireless communication device is configured to communicate with at least one other electronic user communication device that is connected to communicate on an electronic communication network. The user's device automatically creates a communication list comprising the at least one other electronic user communication device on the network, and the user communication device sends the communication list to a remote server device. So configured, the user communication device can automatically create a communication list of devices with which the user can use instant messaging or chat-like communications, without having to separately discover, search, or otherwise locate such devices and add them as friends or buddies or approved communication devices to a communication list. Accordingly, the electronic user communication device will provide to a user a communication list without additional registration or other set-up procedures.

Enabling wireless device communication

A system, method, and computer program product determine when a user's mobile device has left a secured location, such as a house or office, without predefined site security settings being met, and responsively inform the user of any security anomalies. A predetermined distance threshold is compared with the distance between the mobile device, and the secured location. If the distance exceeds the threshold and a trigger event is detected, an alert is transmitted. An alert may also be sent when a mobile object to be secured is moved away from the user's mobile device by a distance that exceeds the predetermined distance threshold.

Security system applications for locations to be secured

A method and device is provided for platform independent device communication by detecting a request at a processor-based device to perform a function, determining an external device corresponding to the request, retrieving a tag for the external device for performing a function corresponding to the request and generating a message implemented in XMPP, having embedded therein the tag, wherein the tag is essential at the external device for performing the function corresponding to the request. Receiving the message at a device, determining whether the message comprises a device message, retrieving a tag included in the message, wherein the tag corresponds to an executable command to perform a function and executing the tag to perform the function.

Method and apparatus for enabling device communication and control using XMPP

A system, method, and computer program product determine when a user's mobile device has left a secured physical site, such as a house or office, without predefined site security settings being met, and responsively inform the user of any security anomalies. A predetermined distance threshold is compared with the distance between the mobile device, and a secured site. If the distance exceeds the threshold and a trigger event is detected, an alert is transmitted. The alert may be transmitted via the internet, and may be formatted as a text message, a phone vibration, a popup alert, a ringtone, an audio recording, a synthesized voice message, an image, and a video. The alert may be delivered via a speaker in a vehicle or a mobile phone, and an alert format is selected according to whether these are in use.
