Hand grip handle for detachable tools

A handle to be gripped when applying torque to hand tools employed in connection with fasteners such as screws, nuts and bolts, or for other uses, has a good, advantageous hand 'feel' through the provision of a hollow body rigidified by an internal core, with the outer body having sufficient pliability to conform to the shape and size of the palm during each application of squeezing pressure. Special tread means on the tubular body augments its anti-slip characteristics, and the material forming the body well adapts it for the inclusion of an improved and convenient storage for bits.

A hand instrument, such as a screwdriver, has a connector between the handle and the shank adapted to reduce costs and simplify production procedures as well as provide added strength and aleviate breakage problems. The handle is specially shaped to enhance manipulation and eliminate injury during use.

A screwdriver or the like has a shank adapted to hold any one of a number of double ended bits together with a handle for the shank having storage slots for those bits not being held in place by the shank. A split ring, rotatable on the stem of the handle, holds the stored bits against displacement until the ring is rotated to place the space between the ends of the ring into alignment with a selected slot.

Screwdriver

A screwdriver including a relatively large teardrop-shaped, hollow handle, comfortable to the hand for delivering increased turning power, is provided with a self-contained ratchet mechanism which, in turn, has a three-position ratchet control (forward, reverse and lock). The shank of the screwdriver houses a magnet for releasably holding any one of a number of bits in place during use. The handle has a series of finger-engageable projections on its stem to assist the operator in applying torque and for storage of bits therein. A retainer ring on the stem holds the bits in the chambers until indexed to a bit-releasing position.
