A filter assembly for an enclosure, particularly for an ostomy bag, is described having an enclosure side, a first layer which is gas permeable, and an adsorbent layer comprising adsorbent particles dispersed in a fine fiber web. The enclosure side of the filter assembly includes an adhesive zone in which adhesive is present having an outer adhesive perimeter and a weld area surrounding at least a portion of the adhesive zone, where the filter assembly is heat-sealable to the enclosure at the weld area. A method of assembly is also described.

An in-line skate wheel includes an polyethylene closed cell foam ring surrounding the outer cylindrical surface of a hard plastic hub. Polyurethane is molded onto the outer cylindrical surface of the hub and surrounding the polyethylene ring. The polyethylene ring is provided with a substantially lower density than the density of the polyurethane.

An off-road in-line skate which includes a plurality of wheels mounted to a frame of a skate where the wheels each have a diameter in the range of 40 to 60% of the length of a boot of the skate to provide a maximum wheel diameter to clear obstructions while presenting an overall wheel base length less than a maximum wheel base length which would otherwise cause tripping during cross-over skating.

Off-road in-line skate

A braking apparatus is provided for a skate which comprises a shoe composed of at least one quarter connected to a shell associated with a supporting frame for a plurality of wheels. The braking apparatus includes a braking element connected to a rear portion of the supporting frame adjacent the wheels. A brake arm is connected between the quarter of the skate and the braking element. The brake arm includes a first member and a second member connected together with the first member moveable with respect to the second member. The brake arm includes a switch mechanism operable between a first and second position. Upon activation of the switch mechanism from the first position to the second position, the first member of the brake arm moves away from the second member of the brake arm such that the length of the brake arm is increased and the braking element is positioned lower with respect to the wheels of the skate. Upon activation of the switch mechanism from the second position to the first position, the first member moves toward the second member of the brake arm to decrease the length of the brake arm such that the braking element is positioned higher with respect to the wheels of the skate.

Quick adjusting braking apparatus

An in-line skate is disclosed having a frame with a plurality of wheels and a boot coupled to the frame. The boot has a cuff and lower shell connected by a resilient connecting member that permits flexing along substantially the entire length of the member. The connecting member can be made of spring steel or a variety of synthetic materials.

The present invention relates generally to a hub for a skate wheel. The hub includes a central core member defining a bore for receiving an axle. A central axis of rotation passes through the center of the bore. The hub also includes first and second anchors extending radially outward from the core and disposed in axially spaced-apart relation such that an outwardly opening channel is defined between the first and second anchors. The first anchor includes a plurality of first radial projections separated by first spacing gaps. The second anchor includes a plurality of second radial projections separated by second spacing gaps. The first and second radial projections are staggered relative to each other about the central axis of rotation such that the first radial projections are aligned with the second spacing gaps and the second radial projections are aligned with the first spacing gaps.

Skate wheel and method for making

An in-line skate with full access frame is provided which includes a skate boot with a sole portion, a two-piece frame secured to the boot sole and a plurality of wheels. The frame includes a first frame portion and a second frame portion cooperating to form a wheel channel when the second frame portion is in a first position adjacent to the first frame portion. The skate wheels are disposed for rotation within the wheel channel. Preferably, the first frame portion is securely connected to the boot sole with the second frame portion movably connected to the first frame portion. The second frame portion is movable from the first position adjacent to the first frame portion to a second position away from the first frame portion to allow access to the wheels. The second frame portion preferably includes at least one connector member sized to be received within a corresponding support cavity or slot in the first frame portion or the boot sole when the second frame portion is in the first position. The second frame portion may be pivotally connected to the first frame portion or boot sole so that the second frame portion is movable from the first position to the second position. Preferably, the frame includes a plurality of wheel shafts securely attached to the first frame portion.

In-line skate with full access frame

An in-line skate has a fastening system which includes a strap having a first end and a second end each secured to a same side of the skate. A buckle is provided for releasably securing one of the first and second ends to the side. A first fastening member is secured to the strap at a point between the first and second ends. A second fastening member is secured to the boot on a side opposite the side on which the strap ends are fastened. The first and second fastening members may be releasably joined and tensioned.
