User equipment (UE) includes a short-range transceiver configured for communication with a plurality of wireless access points (APs) distributed throughout a venue. The individual UEs can communicate with the venue via the APs. The UEs can be configured to play interactive games with the venue, some of which may be displayed on the large screen in the venue and others that are displayed on the display of the UE. Data may be sent to the UEs individually or in groups. The data may be in the form of advertising, text messaging, images, video, multimedia, or the like. An array of UEs can receive portions of an overall image and function as individual pixels in a large display.

System and method for wireless communication to permit audience participation

Secure control of network appliances uses a central hub connected to a plurality of network appliances or multiple hubs in a short-range wireless mesh network. The central hub controls communication with the appliances and also includes a cellular link for communication with a cellular network. Only the central hub can communicate with the Internet via the cellular link. User equipment (UE) contains an application program that works in conjunction with the central hub to control the appliances. Commands generated by the UE are sent either directly to the central hub or via the mesh network. Upon receipt of an authenticated command, the central hub propagates commands via the short-range wireless mesh network to the intended network appliance either directly or via the mesh network.

A message distribution technique permits individual subscribers to receive text messages from a broadcaster. The broadcaster uploads a text message to a central processing service where it may be redirected to a chat room associated with the broadcaster. In addition, a push notification is sent to ail subscribers of a particular broadcaster to indicate the delivery of a text message from the broadcaster. The push notification may also contain a link that, when activated by the subscriber, initiates an associated software application program that navigates the subscriber directly to the chat room to view the text message. The text message may be generated and uploaded by the broadcaster without having to activate the software application. The push notification may also be received by subscribers without having to activate the software program. In one embodiment, the broadcaster can limit distribution of the video based on a geographic restriction.

System and method for customized message delivery

A wireless communication device associated with a mobile operator network transmits an authentication request for network access via a wireless access point (AP) using a network transceiver or a transceiver other than the cellular network transceiver. Device authentication can occur directly with the mobile operator network or via a proxy server. Communications with the authentication server my use VLAN/VRF or NFV depending on the availability of the network communications technology. Upon authentication, the requesting device may access a wide area network in a data off-load operational mode and the data flow to and from the device via the AP is monitored and reported to mobile operator network associated with the requesting device. The wireless communication device can communicate with any of a plurality of APs distributed in a venue during the data off-load operational mode.

Billing engine and method of use

A video or multimedia distribution system receives multiple video streams and transcodes them into a single stream of UDP packets with each of the plurality of video data packets for respective ones of the video streams being assigned a port number corresponding to the respective video stream. The UDP packets are routed to a plurality of Access Points (APs) for transmission throughout a vehicle, such as an aircraft or ship. A User Equipment (UE) communicates with the APs and selects one or more of the video streams for viewing on the UE by selecting the port number corresponding to the desired video streams. The UE can 'change channels' to view other video streams by changing the port number to the port number of the desired video stream.

System and method for multi-channel WiFi video streaming

An application programming Interface (API) is downloaded to wireless user equipment (UE). The API enables the UE to automatically detect the presence of one or more access points (AP) in a venue and to transmit identification information to the access point to authenticate the UE. The identification/authentication may occur whenever the UE comes within range of any of the APs in the venue. A plurality of venues may be coupled to a Cloud network with the authentication information stored on the Cloud network. In this manner, whenever the UE enters any of the venues, the UE is automatically authenticated when it comes within range of any AP within any of the venues. The venue may use the API to provide advertising to the UE. The Cloud network may aggregate data from a plurality of data sources to provide targeted advertising via the API to the UE.

System and method for handset operation in a wireless communication network

A wireless network is established by direct communication between a user equipment (UE) and wireless access points within a shopping venue. After initial registration, the UE may be automatically authenticated upon entry into the shopping venue. In the venue, the UE sends a periodic signal that includes information from which the UE location within the venue may be determined. The system can develop a shopper profile based on the amount of time spent within the shopping venue, user purchases, and user-provided profile data even under circumstances where the specific identity of the user is not known. The customer analysis and profile generation can be used to produce individualized ads and offers for the UE. In addition, the analysis can develop a retail DNA rating for the user based on various factors, including responsiveness to advertising. A high retail DNA rating may result in even better advertising offers to the user.

System and method for retail sales using wireless communication devices in a wireless communication network

A video distribution technique permits individual subscribers to pay a nominal fee to follow celebrities and receive videos directly therefrom. An individual may qualify as a broadcaster by having a sufficient fan base as measured by the number of followers in existing social media services. The broadcaster uploads video to a central processing service where it may be transcoded to a convenient communication protocol for distribution. In addition, a warning message is sent to all subscribers of a particular broadcaster to indicate the impending arrival of an incoming video from the broadcaster. In one embodiment, the broadcaster can limit distribution of the video based on a geographic restriction. The broadcaster provides the restriction data and the system filters the subscriber list to include subscribers that meet the geographic requirements, such as residence in a particular area or current presence within a certain area. Messages sent only the targeted subscribers.

System and method for video streaming to a geographically limited subscriber set

A wireless communication device associated with a mobile operator network transmits an authentication request for network access via a wireless access point (AP) using a transceiver other than the cellular network transceiver. Device authentication can occur directly with the mobile operator network or via a proxy server. Upon authentication, the requesting device may access a wide area network in a data off-load operational mode and the data flow to and from the device via the AP is monitored and reported to mobile operator network associated with the requesting device. A short-range wireless network is established by direct communication between wireless devices and wireless access points to permit gambling within a casino. The short communication range of the access points assures that the wireless device is in the casino. A gaming communication link is used to exchange game play data (e.g., betting, card dealing, etc.) between a gaming controller and one or more wireless devices. Game play may be conducted between a player and the house or between a plurality of payers. In one embodiment, all communication is routed between players using the gaming controller so that the house controls the transmission of all game play data.

System-on-chip (SOC) products using high frequency, wideband, highly linear, CMOS and BiCMOS processes will be the next evolution of wireless and wireline communications integrated circuits. Aspects described herein can provide enhanced overall performance over existing prior art single-ended, wideband RF amplifier topologies. A single-ended third order intermodulation distortion nulling circuit can extend the dynamic range for wideband amplifiers up to an order-of-magnitude, without a DC power or noise figure (NF) penalty. The application of distortion nulling can be extended to all the building blocks used in CMOS/BiCMOS RF transceivers to improve performance. The application of this concept to all of the building blocks in an RF transceiver will allow the dynamic range of the transceiver to be increased without suffering a DC power dissipation increase or a significant noise increase.
