A biochemical device and method for the determination of dissolved gases in solution is provided which employs a dry electrode/sample interface. Dissolved oxygen or other gas concentration in a liquid sample is measured by its diffusion through a selectively permeable membrane which is an integral part of a disposable receptacle. The receptacle makes contact with a gas-sensing electrode at the locus of the selectively permeable membrane whereby the determination of the concentration of said gas is made by the electrode without ever touching the liquid sample.

Discrete biochemical electrode system

A method of determining triglycerides in biological fluids which comprises reacting a biological fluid sample with a lipolytic enzyme to liberate free glycerol, reacting said free glycerol with a coupled enzyme series in an oxygenated aqueous solution containing ATP, GK, .alpha.-GPDH, NAD and an electron transfer agent, and measuring the uptake of oxygen by the oxidation of the resulting NADH with an oxygen-sensing electrode.

Triglycerides determination method

A method of determining creatine phosphokinase activity in biological fluids comprising reacting a biological fluid sample with a coupled enzyme series in an oxygenated aqueous solution containing creatine phosphate, ADP, glucose, HK, G-6-PDH, NADP and an electron transfer agent and measuring the uptake of oxygen by the oxidation of the resulting NADPH with an oxygen-sensing electrode.

Creatine phosphokinase determination method

A method of determining dopamine-.beta.-hydroxylase (D.beta.H) activity in biological fluids which comprises reacting a D.beta.H-specific substrate with a sample of said biological fluid in the presence of ascorbate, fumarate and oxygen and measuring the uptake of oxygen by the resulting hydroxylation with an oxygen-sensing electrode.

Dopamine-.beta.-hydroxylase determination method

Water-insoluble, biologically active conjugates for use in a reactor core of a flow-through reactor are prepared by covalently bonding an enzyme directly to a fibrous dialdehyde cellulose such as cotton. Preferably the fibrous cellulose is placed in the reactor core of a flow-through reactor before or after it is treated with periodic acid solution to convert glucose units thereof to units containing dialdehyde groups. Thereafter, an enzyme solution is passed through the resultant dialdehyde cellulose to bind the enzyme to the cellulose.

A method of determining lactate dehydrogenase activity in biological fluids comprising reacting a biological fluid sample with a coupled enzyme series in an oxygenated aqueous solution containing lactate, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and an electron transfer agent, and measuring the uptake of oxygen by the oxidation of the resulting NADH with an oxygen-sensing electrode.
