The invention relates to a wireless access telecommunications system comprising at least an SA-cell with which a terminal in an active mode is configured to have a data connection and an LA-cell on which the terminal in an idle mode is configured to camp. A method for the terminal to at least obtain LA-cell system information and SA-cell system information includes, when the terminal is in the active mode and an SA-cell radio interface of the terminal is enabled, the terminal receiving at least a part of the SA-cell system information for the terminal from the SA-cell via the SA-cell radio interface. The method further includes enabling an LA-cell radio interface of the terminal during one or more of a plurality of LA time periods and receiving at least a part of the LA-cell system information for the terminal from the LA-cell via the LA-cell radio interface.

Distribution of system information in a wireless access telecommunications system

A first method comprises transmitting () a preamble in a first time interval in a first frequency resource, transmitting () a first portion or a first copy of data in the first frequency resource in a second time interval, and transmitting () a second portion or second copy of the data in a second frequency resource in the second time interval. A method of scheduling transmissions to client devices comprises receiving feedback (f1a-f3d) about a plurality of candidate downlink frequency resources (-) from a plurality of client devices and/or measuring channel qualities of a plurality of candidate uplink frequency resources (-) from receptions of transmissions, e.g. of the feedback, by the plurality of client devices. The invention relates to a method for establishing a communication service with a user equipment in the coverage area of a base station is disclosed. The base station is part of a telecommunication system comprising a plurality of base stations connected to a core network containing a connection information database. In the method, at least one communication identifier is received by the base station of the user equipment in the coverage area of the base station after the base station has processed information indicative of a disconnection between the base station and the connection information database, e.g. a disconnection between the base station and the core network. The received at least one communication identifier is stored in a local storage associated with the base station. The communication service is established via the base station using the communication identifier from the local storage.

The invention relates a method and system for assessing coverage of a wireless access network within a desired area via cooperating wireless access networks and terminals capable of measurement and reporting across the different wireless access networks. The cooperation refers to, among other things, the ability of obtaining coverage assessment for one of the wireless access networks using results of the measurements collected at one of the other wireless access networks. In this manner, more accurate and complete coverage assessment may be obtained, relative to the prior art approaches.

The invention relates to a telecommunications system comprising at least a plurality of SA-cells. The invention provides a method for a terminal to facilitate establishment of a data connection between the terminal and at least one of the SA-cells. The method includes steps of, while the terminal is in an idle mode, the terminal transmitting an information request message (IRM) for the plurality of SA-cells and receiving, from each SA-cell of one or more SA-cells of the plurality of SA-cells, a message comprising at least information indicative of a strength with which the each SA-cell received the IRM. Session setup in an energy-efficient cellular wireless telecommunications system

The disclosure relates to a method for discovery by a non-discoverable first public safety user equipment (PS UE), of a discoverable second PS UE in a public safety system comprising a telecommunications network providing a public safety spectrum for wireless access of the first PS UE and the second PS UE. The method can comprise for the first non-discoverable PS UE: transmitting synchronization information for the second PS UE; receiving at least one proximity announcement from the second PS UE in accordance with the transmitted synchronization information. The disclosure also relates to a non-discoverable public safety user device configured for performing the method, and relates to a PS server system arranged for assisting in the discovery of PS UEs.

The disclosure relates to a transmission node and a method for wirelessly providing a number of data packets to a plurality of receivers in a cell of a transmission node of a cellular telecommunications system. The method comprises the steps of storing a number of network coded data packets at the transmission node and cyclically transmitting the stored network coded data packets from the transmission node to the plurality of receivers. The number of transmitted network coded data packets in a cycle is at least equal to the number of data packets to be provided to each receiver of the plurality of receivers and each network coded data packet is a linear combination of two or more data packets to be provided to each receiver.

Method and transmission node for providing data packets to a plurality of receivers using network coding

A method for allocating radio resources for a D2D communication between a first device and a second device is disclosed. The method includes identifying device(s) relevant for the D2D communication between the first and second devices, obtaining location information for the identified device(s), determining a value of a distance parameter for each of the identified devices using the location information obtained for the device and one or both of location information for the first device and location information for the second device, and allocating one or more radio resources for the D2D communication between the first device and the second device based on the determined value of the distance parameter.

Interference avoidance in D2D communications

The present invention provides a random access procedure for establishment of a data connection between a terminal and a SA-cell in an energy-efficient network, such as e.g. a BCG2 network, wherein the total session setup time is shortened. An information request message (IRM) transmission from the mobile terminal is used for selecting the SA-cell that will serve the mobile terminal (i.e. set-up a data session with this SA-cell) and is simultaneously used for performing a 'contention-free-like' random-access procedure towards all candidate SA-cells. In this way performing a RACHprocedure after selecting a SA cell becomes unnecessary, the random access time is shortened and the uplink resources (at the selected SA-cell) and the uplink transmissions from the terminal are more effectively used.
