Cellular communications, such as 5G cellular, may be a primary link between cell phones and a base station. Such cellular communications may be desirable, due to a high link rate. When the cellular communications are denied, a tactical waveform may be used to bridge communications between the cell phones and the base station. The tactical waveform may be transmitted between tactical radios coupled with the cell phones. The waveform may include a line-of-sight waveform. The tactical waveform may also include a beyond-line-of-sight waveform.

Beyond-line-of-sight communication

A system may include a software-defined radio (SDR) configured to communicate over multiple channels by using a beyond line of sight (BLOS) waveform. The SDR may be configured to transmit encrypted communications over some or all of the multiple channels to a satellite and on to at least one radio access node (RAN). The SDR may be configured to receive encrypted communications over some or all of the multiple channels from the at least one RAN via the satellite. At least one of the multiple channels may use a spreading factor greater than 256. The SDR may be configured to simultaneously transmit and receive encrypted communications over the multiple channels.

Multiple channel beyond line of sight waveform software-defined radio

Cellular communications, such as 5G cellular, may be a primary link between cell phones and a base station. Such cellular communications may be desirable, due to a high link rate. When the cellular communications are denied, a tactical waveform may be used to bridge communications between the cell phones and the base station. The tactical waveform may be transmitted between tactical radios coupled with the cell phones. The tactical radios may include an application layer coupled with an application layer of the cell phone, such that an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) of the cell phone may remain unchanged.

Communication in a denied environment

A communication system including a transmit antenna that transmits an output signal including output information, a network interface that receives state data regarding a first remote platform, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit predicts a performance of a communication link that the transmit antenna uses to transmit the output signal based on the state data, evaluates a performance condition based on the estimated performance and a threshold performance, responsive to the performance condition being satisfied, uses the transmit antenna to transmit the output signal, and responsive to the performance condition not being satisfied, at least one of (i) adjusts at least one of a time parameter or a frequency parameter that the transmit antenna uses to transmit the output signal, or (ii) provide an instruction to a second remote platform to cause the second remote platform to transmit the output information to the first remote platform.

System for data link networking based on machine learning

A method includes determining that a first receiver of a node of a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is in an electromagnetic contested environment for a first frequency. The method also includes scanning a frequency coverage range of a second receiver of the node for unused frequencies. The method additionally includes selecting a frequency from the unused frequencies, the selected frequency to be used for communication of messages from another node of the MANET to the node via the second receiver. The method further includes transmitting, to the other node, a message including information of the selected frequency via the transmitter.

Disruption tolerance in contested environments

Frequency management methods and communication networks utilizing such frequency management methods are disclosed. More specifically, multiple frequency sets may be utilized to facilitate frequency hopping and a frequency management method may implement various switching schemes to switch between the different frequency sets. Techniques such as synchronization and spectrum harvesting may also be provided to support utilization of multiple frequency sets, all of which may provide improved operation reliabilities and better handling of jamming signals.

Systems and method for adaptive frequency management utilizing multiple frequency sets

The present invention is a method for tactical spectrum harvesting via a cognitive communication device. The method may include monitoring a wireless communication frequency spectrum. The method may further include detecting active net communication transmissions. The active net communication transmissions may be transmitted via the monitored communication frequency spectrum by a plurality of active transmitting nets. The method may further include determining an identity of/identifying at least one active transmitting net included in the plurality of active transmitting nets. The method may further include synchronizing an internal time reference of the cognitive communication device with a time reference(s) of the identified active transmitting net(s). The method may further include determining an estimated future spectral occupancy for the identified active transmitting net(s) based on time data for the active net communication transmissions, cryptographic key data for the active transmitting nets, and algorithm data for the active transmitting nets.

Tactical spectrum harvesting

A system and method for ad-hoc beyond line of sight high frequency (HF) radio frequency communication is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention may augment the HF waveform incorporated with Advanced automatic link establishment (ALE) to determine relay-hop paths between a plurality of HF nodes. Systems herein may setup and teardown bi-directional one hop HF communication sessions between two HF nodes having RF connectivity directly as well as through an intermediary relay node. Additionally, the setup and teardown may include bi-directional relay hop HF communication sessions between two HF nodes through multiple intermediary relay nodes. In performing the bi-directional relay hop HF communication sessions, systems herein may select a relay node, perform automatic link monitoring and link re-establishment, support message store and forward, and route HF communication along a path around potential barriers to communication (e.g., nuclear scintillation, solar flares, and coronal mass events).

A radio node in a radio network includes signal processing hardware. The radio node includes radio frequency (RF) transceiver hardware. The radio node also includes a spectrum sensor configured to detect potential spectrum policy violations. A method of operation for managing network security features is disclosed. A communication device such as a mobile telephone or a modem can establish a position as a communications intermediary supporting communications between a first communication device such as a personal computer and a third communication device such as a server. The intermediary can detect a security feature between these 'end devices', and disable security features on intermediate segments of the end-to-end communication link. The end-to-end communication may utilize a virtual private network as a security feature and other security features on the intermediate segments can be disabled when they provide negligible additional security for the communications.

Situational awareness enhancement is promoted in a radio communication transceiver receiving non-verbal content and verbal content from a remote source. A vocoder communicatively coupled with the transceiver receives the verbal content packets, and a situational awareness encoder/decoder communicatively coupled with the transceiver receives the non-verbal content packets. The encoder/decoder links and synchronizes the verbal content packets with the corresponding non-verbal content packets, and provides the verbal content packets to the vocoder in parallel with the provision of the non-verbal content packets to the encoder/decoder. System and method for providing situational awareness enhancement for low bit rate vocoders

Methods () and corresponding systems () for handing off between a broadcast network and a cellular network include receiving, in a cooperation platform, incoming data from a content provider. Broadcast data corresponding to the incoming data is then sent to a broadcast network output for broadcasting to one or more subscribers including, a subscriber station. Handoff information from the cellular network is received in the cooperation platform, and, in response to the handoff information, cellular data corresponding to the incoming data is sent to a cellular network output for transmission to the subscriber station. The handoff information can correspond to a user request for handoff sent from the subscriber station via the cellular network, or can be a request for handoff sent from the cellular network based upon a loading level within one or more of the broadcast network and the cellular network.
