An electronic device may include a housing, processing circuitry carried by the housing, and at least one wireless transceiver carried by the housing and a NFC device carried by the housing. The electronic device may also include a display carried by the housing and having an internal surface within the housing and a display surface opposite the internal surface, and an NFC antenna mounted on and extending across at least a portion of the internal surface of the display, wherein the NFC antenna comprises a substrate and electrically conductive traces thereon defining a plurality of loops.

Electronic device with NFC antenna adjacent display and related methods

In some examples, to mitigate interference of wireless communications, an electronic device that includes a first type wireless component and a second type wireless component receives values of parameters relating to wireless communication using the first type wireless component. The electronic device determines, using a model of a relationship between the parameters relating to wireless communication using the first type wireless component and at least one handover parameter relating to wireless communication using the second type wireless component, a value of the at least one handover parameter based on the received values of the parameters relating to wireless communication using the first type wireless component. It is determined whether the electronic device should be handed over from a first access point to a second access point based on the determined value of the at least one handover parameter.

Apparatus and method pertaining to the calculation of at least one value that represents, at least in part, wireless reception signal strength from the perspective of both a local wireless receiver and a remote receiver that receives wireless transmissions from a local wireless transmitter. By one approach the apparatus directly determines the wireless reception signal strength from the perspective of the local wireless receiver and indirectly determines the wireless reception signal strength from the perspective of the remote receiver.

A method of controlling a wireless communication device to dynamically adapt and update roaming parameters stored in the device when operating in a wireless network. The method includes: determining a first roaming metric (M) for a first wireless access point (AP) of the network when the device is in communication with the first AP; determining a second roaming metric (M) for a second wireless AP of the network when the device has roamed to the second AP; and determining an adaptation value by subtracting Mfrom M. Method for controlling wireless communication devices when operating in a wireless communication network

A system, method and device for adjusting a communication parameter for a network communicating with a communication device are provided. The method comprises: monitoring for a condition relating to a first network that has been in communication with the communication device; and determining whether an adjustment is to be implemented on a communication parameter of a second communication network that has been in communication with the communication device based on the condition and if so, implementing the adjustment to the communication parameter for the second communication network.

System and method for adjusting a power transmission level for a communication device

A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a controller that determines a radiated throughput for at least one of an uplink throughput or a downlink throughput of the communication device, reduces transmit power for the communication device responsive to the radiated throughput satisfying a predetermined throughput range, and tunes a matching network of the communication device responsive to the radiated throughput not satisfying the predetermined throughput range. A mobile wireless communications device includes a housing and circuit board carried by the housing and includes radio frequency (RF) circuitry and a processor carried by the circuit board and operative with each other. A display connector for an LCD connector is mounted on the circuit board and adapted to be connected to a display. Display connection lines are carried by the circuit board and interconnect the display connector and processor for carrying signals from the processor to the display connector and a connected display. Filters are carried by the circuit board and connected to the display connection lines and reduce any interfering energy from the processor and display.

Mobile wireless communications device with reduced interfering energy from the display and related methods

A mobile wireless communications device may include a housing, a wireless receiver carried by the housing and configured to receive communication signals over a wireless frequency range, a wireline transmitter carried by the housing and configured to transmit communication signals overlapping in frequency with the wireless frequency range, and a controller carried by the housing and coupled with the wireless receiver and the wireline transmitter. The controller may be configured to determine when the wireless receiver is to begin receiving and, based thereon, switch the wireline transmitter to a suspended communication mode during which transmission is disabled. The controller may also be configured to determine when the wireless receiver has completed receiving and, based thereon, switch the wireline transmitter to a normal communication mode in which transmission is enabled.

Mobile wireless communications device providing enhanced interference mitigation from wireline transmitter and related methods

A system, method and device for adjusting communication parameters for networks communicating with a communication device are provided. The method comprises: when the communication device is linked to a first communication network and a second communication network, comparing a strength of received signals from the second network against a threshold; and when the strength of the received signals is less than the threshold, adjusting a network parameter of signals received from the second communication network by the communication device.

System and method for managing communications for two networks in a communication device

A mobile wireless communications device includes a housing an antenna, and radio frequency (RF) circuitry. A transceiver is connected to the antenna and a processor is operative with the RF circuitry. The transceiver includes an In-phase and Quadrature (I/Q) Modulation and Power Amplification circuit having an In-phase (I) circuit with a modulator mixer and power amplifier circuit. A Quadrature (Q) circuit includes a modulator mixer and power amplifier circuit. A power combiner receives the separately amplified In-phase and Quadrature signals and sums and outputs the signals as a combined I and Q signal. The I and Q circuits are isolated from the combined I and Q signal to enhance antenna matching and transmitted radiated power (TRP) and reduce harmonic emission from the power amplification circuits.

A mobile communication device and method for forwarding a new voice call, received at the device during a current voice call, to a paired computing device is provided. The method includes, at the device comprising a processor, a display device, a memory and a communication interface, receive a new voice call while a current voice call is active at the device and display, on the display device, a selectable option for forwarding the new voice call. Upon detecting selection of the selectable option: retrieve, from the memory one or more stored device identifiers, each stored device identifier associated with a paired computing device, display, on the display device, the one or more stored device identifiers and upon detecting selection of a device identifier of the one or more stored device identifiers, forward the new voice call, using the communication interface, to the paired computing device associated with the device identifier.

Device and method for forwarding voice calls received at the device to a paired computing device

An electronic device may include a housing having a display opening therein, processing circuitry within the housing, and wireless transceiver circuitry within the housing and coupled to the processing circuitry. The electronic device may also include NFC transceiver circuitry within the housing and coupled to the processing circuitry, a display within the housing and coupled to the processing circuitry, the display having an external surface exposed through the display opening and having an internal surface within the housing, and an NFC antenna positioned within the housing behind and aligned with the internal surface of the display and coupled to the NFC transceiver circuitry.

An electronic device monitors a quality of a wireless connection between the electronic device and a first access point. Based on the monitoring and a collection of parameters relating to controlling handover between access points, a determination is made regarding whether the electronic device should be handed over to a second access point from the first access point, where the parameters differ for different combinations of the first access point and candidate destination access points for handover of the electronic device from the first access point.

Mitigating interference with wireless communications

A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining antenna coupling among a plurality of antennas of the communication device and adjusting beam forming for the plurality of antennas utilizing phase shifters coupled with radiating elements of the plurality of antennas, where the adjusting of the beam forming is based on forming a desired antenna pattern that increases radiated throughput and reduces the antenna coupling among the plurality of antennas.
