A computing system may include an access engine and a defect detection engine. The access engine may be configured to access a slice contour of a given layer of a 3-dimensional (3D) object designed for manufacture through an additive manufacturing process and obtain hatch tracking for the slice contour, the hatch tracking representative of an energy path to melt metal powder for constructing the given layer through the additive manufacturing process. The defect detection engine may be configured to construct, from the slice contour, an as-built image for the given layer by rendering the hatch tracking in the slice contour; construct, from the slice contour, an idealized image for the given layer; and identify defects in the given layer via image analysis between the as-built image and the idealized image.

A machine learning component infers a solution output for the new problem based on extrapolation or interpolation of outputs of the candidate simulation, thereby conserving resources by eliminating a simulation generation and execution. The identified application is downloaded from the marketplace.

A computer-implemented method for constructing structures using beams bounded by quadric surfaces of revolution includes generating a quador beam within a computer-aided design (CAD) tool. The quador beam comprises two spheres at opposing endpoints, and the beam is bounded by a quadric surface of revolution around an axis of symmetry joining the center of the two spheres. The quadric surface of revolution abuts with tangent continuity with the surface of each of the spheres. Once generated, the quador beam can be visualized in the CAD tool or another display medium.

The system may include a processor configured to carry out a simulation of a part being additively produced according to a set of tool paths. The simulation may include determining an original mesh of the part; determining an order of the elements of the original mesh to deposit; and simulating an incremental deposit of each of the elements of the original mesh for a material in the order that the elements are determined to be deposited. For each incremental deposit of an additional respective element the processor may determine thermal characteristics and structural deformation characteristics of the deposited elements. After the deposit of several layers have been simulated, subsequent simulation of elements may be carried out based on a respective modified version of the original mesh in which at least some of the layers of the original mesh previously simulated to be deposited under a current layer are retained and at least some are omitted.

System and method for adaptive domain reduction for thermo-structural simulation of additive manufacturing process

A method of partitioning a model to facilitate printing of the model on a 3D printer includes identifying partition sensitive locations on the model and creating a binary tree with a root note representative of the model. An iterative partitioning process is applied to divide the model into objects by selecting a node of the binary tree without any children nodes, identifying a portion of the model corresponding to the node, and determining candidate cutting planes on the portion of the model based on the partition sensitive locations. During the process, analytic hierarchical processing (AHP) is applied to select an optimal cutting plane from the candidate cutting planes based on partitioning criteria. The optimal cutting plane is used to segment the portion of the model into sub-portions, and two children nodes representative of these sub-portions are created on the node of the binary tree.

Systems and methods for volumetrically fabricating 3D objects. The system includes at least a controller operably connected to a build volume and one or more energy sources. The build volume defines a volumetric buildable size of the object to be fabricated and includes media for fabricating the object therein. The energy source(s) is configured to emit at least a first and second energy beam therefrom. The controller is configured to direct the first and second emitted energy beams towards an intersecting point in the build volume to begin fabricating the media therein. The energy from each of the first and second beams is not sufficient to fabricate the object out of the media. The object is fabricated once multiple beams intersect, as collectively, the energy of the intersecting beams is sufficient to fabricate the object.

The first processor of the controller may be configured to cause the controller to control the hardware component based at least in part on measurements from the controller sensor. The second processor of the monitor system may be configured to: receive the measurements from the sensors; determine whether the measurements are indicative of a possible cyberattack on the at least one hardware component; and generate at least one notification indicating a possible cyberattack based on the determination that the measurements are indicative of a possible cyberattack.

A method for processing a three-dimensional (3D) mesh model includes receiving a 3D mesh model. One or more regions including a potential sharp cusp are automatically detected. The automatically detected one or more regions are displayed to a user and an active region of the 3D mesh model is defined by the user. Sphere fitting and Laplacian smoothing are applied to the designated active region to remove a sharp cusp therefrom and to obtain a modified 3D mesh model.

The Hessian matrix is used by the computing platform to trace (a) one or more ridge curves associated with the height field and (b) one or more valley curves associated with the height field using the plurality of seed points.

The template design is combined with the image including the patient anatomical geometry to create a custom medical device design. Surface smoothing of the custom medical device design is performed within the region of interest to bolster a thickness of the custom medical device design.
