The invention relates to a novel Termamyl-like alpha-amylase, and Termamyl-like alpha-amylases comprising mutations in two, three, four, five or six regions/positions. The variants have increased thermostability at acidic pH and/or at low Caconcentrations (relative to the parent). The invention also relates to a DNA construct comprising a DNA sequence encoding an alpha-amylase variant of the invention, a recombinant expression vector which carries a DNA construct of the invention, a cell which is transformed with a DNA construct of the invention, the use of an alpha-amylase variant of the invention for washing and/or dishwashing, textile desizing, starch liquefaction, a detergent additive comprising an alpha-amylase variant of the invention, a manual or automatic dishwashing detergent composition comprising an alpha-amylase variant of the invention, a method for generating a variant of a parent Termamyl-like alpha-amylase, which variant exhibits increased thermostability at acidic pH and/or at low Caconcentrations (relative to the parent).

The present invention relates to amylases having improved washing performance in an alkaline detergent solution at low temperature. More specifically, the present invention provides novel &#x3b1;-amylases fromsp. with improved performance in alkaline solutions, especially in alkaline detergent solutions at pH around 9&#x2013;11.

The present invention relates to a DNA construct exhibiting &bgr;-1,3-glucanase activity, which DNA sequence comprises: a) the DNA sequence shown in SEQ ID No. 1 or SEQ ID No. 12, or b) an analogue of the DNA sequence defined in a), which i) is homologous with the DNA sequence defined in a), or ii) hybridizes with the same oligonucleotide probe as the DNA sequence defined in a), or iii) encodes a polypeptide which is homologous with the polypeptide encoded by a DNA sequence comprising the DNA sequence defined in a), or iv) encodes a polypeptide which is immunologically reactive with an antibody raised against the purified &bgr;-1,3-glucanase derived from,LLG109 encoded by the DNA sequence defined in a). The DNA construct may further encode a mannose binding domain. The invention also relates to a DNA construct encoding a mannose binding domain. Further the invention relates to an expression vector comprising said DNA constructs, a cell harbouring said DNA constructs or expression vectors, a method of producing the novel enzyme, a novel enzyme preparation containing said novel enzyme, the use of the enzyme for degrading or modification of &bgr;-glucan containing material.
