Fluorinated copolymer having sulfonyl pendant groups and compositions and articles including the same

The copolymer includes divalent units represented by formula &#x2014;[CF&#x2014;CF]&#x2014;, divalent units represented by formula: (I), and one or more divalent units independently represented by formula: (II) When Z is hydrogen, the copolymer has an alpha transition temperature of up to 100 ?C. The copolymer has an &#x2014;SOZ equivalent weight in a range from 300 to 1400, and a variation of the copolymer in which &#x2014;SOZ is replaced with &#x2014;SOF has a melt flow index of up to 80 grams per ten minutes measured at a temperature of 265&#xb0; C. and at a support weight of 5 kg. A catalyst ink or polymer electrolyte membrane including the copolymer are also provided. 

Described herein is a composition comprising (i) a hydrofluorothermoplastic polymer, wherein the hydrofluorothermoplastic polymer is derived from: (a) 50-85 mol % tetrafluoroethene; (b) 2-15 mol % hexafluoropropene; (c) 10-35 mol % vinylidene fluoride; and (d) 0.1 to 5 mol % of a bromine-containing monomer; and (ii) a perhalogenated thermoplastic polymer. Fluorothermoplastic polymer compositions

Described herein is a composition comprising a fluorothermoplastic polymer, wherein the fluorothermoplastic polymer is derived from: (a) 60-85 mol % tetrafluoroethene; (b) 2-12 mol % hexafluoropropene; (c) 10-30 mol % vinylidene fluoride; (d) 0.2 to 5 mol % of a bromine-containing monomer. Such compositions can be used in multilayer constructions in, for example, fuel hose applications.

Fluorothermoplastic polymer

Highly water repellent coated articles may be made by applying to a substrate a coating having dispersed therein or sprinkled thereon partially or fully fluorinated polymer microparticles. The coating includes a partially fluorinated hexafluoropropylene copolymer binder in a nonfluorinated solvent that dissolves the binder and does not dissolve the microparticles. The coating is heated sufficiently to bond the microparticles to the binder but not so much as to cause the receding water contact angle for the coating to fall below 80&#xb0;.

Highly water repellent fluoropolymer coating

The invention provides a fluorothermoplastic composition comprising interpolymerized units derived from about 94 to about 97.5 mole percent (mol %) tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), about 2 to about 3 mol % perfluoro (propyl vinyl ether) (PPVE), and about 0.5 to about 3 mol % hexafluoropropylene (HFP). The invention also provides a fluorothermoplastic composition comprising interpolymerized units derived from about 94 to about 97 mol % TFE, about 0.75 to about 3 mol % PPVE, and about 1.5 to about 3.5 mol % HFP. These fluorothermoplastic compositions have a flex life that fits the equation:log(flex life cycles)&#x2267;0.71+4.0*(MFI),a method of making fluorothermoplastic compositions, a method of improving stress crack resistance, and fluorothermoplastic articles.

Provided is a composition comprising an aromatic material selected from a polythiol aromatic compound or resin, a hydroxythiophenol compound or resin, a catechol novolak resin, a catechol cresol novolak resin, a polyhydroxy aromatic resin or compound comprising at least one aromatic ring having at least one hydroxyl group attached directly to the aromatic ring wherein at least one hydroxyl group is a phenolate salt, or a combination thereof, and a salt former compound capable of forming a salt with the aromatic material, a fluoropolymer, and optionally a phase transfer catalyst. Powder coating fluoropolymer compositions with aromatic materials

The fluoropolymer generally includes repeating units derived from the monomers tetrafluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, vinylidene fluoride, chlorotrifluoroethylene and optionally one or more repeating units from fluorinated monomers other than tetrafluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, vinylidene fluoride and chlorotrifluoroethylene.

The present invention provides a method of making a fluoropolymer comprising repeating units derived from one or more gaseous fluorinated monomers. The method comprises an aqueous emulsion polymerization of gaseous fluorinated monomers in the presence of an ether selected from the group consisting of dimethyl ether (DME), methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) and mixtures thereof.

A fluoropolymer composition is provided.
