A drug injection device () including a housing () for holding a container () having a needle () for penetrating skin and a plunger () for expelling a drug stored in the container. The device includes visual and/or audible indicators for indicating that the correct depth of needle penetration has been achieved and that drug injection/extrusion has been started and/or completed. The device may further include a label () for visually confirming the quality of the drug contained therein. Alternatively, a tray () may be provided for receiving the drug injection device, which allows the quality of the drug contained therein to be visually confirmed.

Drug delivery devices are described that provide hybrid forms with optional gripping functionalities. For example, the devices can include a grip portion on a skin contact surface with a release liner disposed thereon. A user can operate the devices with the release liner disposed on the grip portion or can remove the release liner so that the grip portion is able to aid users in orienting and supporting the device during an injection operation.

Drug delivery devices are described that provide hybrid forms with gripping and stability functionalities, such as a grip portion on a skin contact surface. In some versions, the drug delivery devices can include a cep having a release liner such that removal of the cap exposes the grip portion. In some versions, the drug delivery devices include a retractable needle guard having the grip portion extending therearound.
