Methods, apparatuses, and systems associated with a sample testing device are provided. For example, an example sample testing device may include a substrate layer defining a bottom surface of the sample testing device, as well as a waveguide disposed on the substrate layer and includes at least one reference channel and at least one sample channel.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for sample testing

A method includes receiving collimated light from an optical imaging system and dividing the received light into multiple bands of wavelength. Each band is refocused onto a corresponding diffraction grating having an amplitude function matched to a point spread function (PSF) of the optical imaging system. The light that is not filtered out by the diffraction grating is transmitted onto a corresponding pixel array. An image is reconstructed from data provided by the pixel arrays for each band. The intensity of light scattered by each diffraction grating may be detected, with the image being reconstructed as a function of an average value of detected intensity of scattered light used to scale the known zero-order mode profile, which is added to the image on the pixel array.

Sub-diffraction endoscopic modal imaging systems and methods are disclosed herein. A single multi-mode fiber endoscope incorporated into a modal imaging system can facilitate the imaging of inner portions of a patient's body at a quantum-limited resolution. One method of sub-diffraction endoscopic modal imaging includes collecting incoming radiation with a multi-mode fiber, separating the output into multiple modes, and measuring an energy level of each mode to construct an image of the received incoming radiation.

Super-resolution modal imaging methods and devices are disclosed herein. One super-resolution modal imaging device includes an optical component provided to receive incoming radiation, a mode separating structure for separating the received incoming radiation into multiple modes, at least one output array, and at least one detector array having multiple array elements for measuring an energy level of each mode to construct an image of the received incoming radiation.

Geolocation sensor devices, methods, and systems are described herein. One geolocation sensor device includes an optical position sensor configured to receive sunlight and determine a current angular position of the sun relative to the geolocation sensor device based, at least in part, on the received sunlight, a memory, and a processor configured to execute executable instructions stored in the memory to determine a current location of the geolocation sensor device based, at least in part, on the determined current angular position of the sun and a current time of day.

One method for tuning an antenna of a device includes comparing a reference phase of a reference signal to a return phase of a return signal of the antenna and sending a correction signal to a tunable circuit element of the antenna in response to the reference phase being out of phase with the return phase.

In one or more embodiments, a system can include a monopole or dipole antenna, a hardware processor electrically coupled to the monopole or dipole antenna, an amplitude or power detector electrically coupled between the monopole or dipole antenna and the processor to receive signals reflected from the monopole or dipole antenna and determine an amplitude or power of the reflected signals, and a first impedance matching network electrically connected between a feed point of the monopole or dipole antenna and the detector, the first impedance matching network including a variable capacitor, the variable capacitor having a variable capacitance that is set by the hardware processor based on the amplitude or power of the reflected determined by the amplitude or power detector.

Generally discussed herein are techniques, software, apparatuses, and systems configured for tuning an antenna. In one or more embodiments, a method can include sending, by processing circuitry, one or more signals to an antenna tuner to sweep the tuner through a plurality of tuner states, determining a plurality of power values, each power value corresponding to a signal received from an antenna and each power value corresponding to the tuner being in a state of the plurality of tuner states, and sending one or more signals to the tuner to set the tuner to a tuner state of the plurality of tuner states, the tuner state determined using the determined powers.

Generally disclosed herein are transducers that can convert sound energy into electrical signals, such as to detect if a pressure wave includes a specific frequency. Methods of using the transducers and systems that include the transducers are disclosed herein as well. A transducer can include a first probe plate, a second probe plate, a ground plate situated between the first and second probe plates, a first electret film adjacent to a first side of the ground plate and situated between the first and second probe plates, and a second electret film adjacent to a second side of the ground plate and situated between the first and second probe plates, the second side opposite the first side.

An apparatus for detecting gas concentrations includes a coded filter to oscillate proximate a resonant frequency. A photo detector is positioned below the coded filter such that the coded filter selectively blocks light that is directed at the photo detector. Optics are positioned to project spectral information on to the coded filter. A processor analyzes a signal received from the photo detector. The processor is adapted to weight a harmonic attic signal.

A photoacoustic sensing device includes a laser tuned to emit light to cause optical absorption by a gas to be detected, a resonant acoustic sensor positioned to receive pressure waves from the gas, wherein the laser is modulated to match a resonant frequency of the resonant acoustic sensor, and a first mirror positioned to receive light from the laser after the light has passed through the gas and to reflect the received light back through the gas to cause additional optical absorption.

In general, the disclosure is directed to techniques for determining the position of a piston within a linear actuator, such as a hydraulic cylinder, in a more cost effective and less labor-intensive fashion compared to current techniques for determining the position of a piston within a linear actuator. One or more magnets may be operably coupled to the piston, and a linear array of sensors may be disposed along an exterior length of the linear actuator. The sensors may measure the magnetic field generated by the magnet and, based on the measured magnetic field, may determine the location of the piston within the linear actuator.

Some embodiments are directed to a photoacoustic sensor. The photoacoustic sensor may comprise: a gas cell with an opening; a light source to generate to radiate a sample gas within the gas cell; an optical microphone to detect the sample gas within the gas cell; and a membrane aligned with the opening of the gas cell to permit sample gas to enter the gas cell. The optical microphone includes a semiconducting laser. The semiconducting laser includes a p-n junction within a cavity of the semiconducting laser. The optical microphone further includes a pressure-sensitive membrane that receives coherent light emitted from the semiconducting laser and directs reflected light back toward the semiconducting laser. During operation of the optical microphone, the pressure-sensitive membrane flexes in response to acoustic pressure waves. The phase of the reflected light is dependent upon a distance of the pressure-sensitive membrane from an aperture of the semiconducting laser.
