A method for producing a deposit resistant fluid includes combining a base stock and one or more additives to form a blended fluid configured to resist forming deposits in an oxidizing environment. The base stock has a viscosity index of at least 80, and either a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. of at least 320 cSt or a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of at least 14 cSt. The base stock includes greater than or equal to about 90 wt % saturates, less than or equal to about 10 wt % aromatics, and a sum of terminal/pendant propyl groups and terminal/pendant ethyl groups of at least 1.7 per 100 carbon atoms.

Lubricants having improved oxidation and deposit control performance

Systems and methods are provided for modifying or selecting processing conditions for bright stock formation based on compositional characterization of the feedstock and/or bright stock products. In some aspects, the compositional information can include Z-class characterization of the components of a feed and/or bright stock product, optionally in combination with carbon number and/or molecular weight for the components. The compositional information can be used to select processing conditions to allow for removal and/or modification of selected components within a bright stock in order to improve throughput and/or provide desirable cold flow properties.

The invention provides enriched fuels and methods that expand the operating envelope of an advanced combustion engine during operation in an advanced combustion mode (e.g. HCCI mode). Enriched fuels and methods of the invention facilitate efficient combustion over a wide range of engine loads, and the need for EGR, VVT, NVO, rebreathing, or multiple fuel injection is either reduced or eliminated.

A distillate fuel composition boiling in the range of about 190&#xb0; C. to 400&#xb0; C. with a T10 point greater than 205&#xb0; C., and having a sulfur level of less than about 100 wppm, a total aromatics content of about 15 to 35 wt. %, a polynuclear aromatics content of less than about 3 wt. %, wherein the ratio of total aromatics to polynuclear aromatics is greater than about 11.
