The present invention relates to compositions comprising: (a) from about 15% to about 70% by weight of the composition of a denture adhesive component; (b) a safe and effective amount of a colorant selected from the group consisting of xanthene dyes, fluorescein dyes, free acids and salts thereof, and mixtures thereof; and (c) a safe and effective amount of a non-aqueous denture adhesive carrier. The present invention further relates to a method of reducing, inhibiting and/or preventing, calculus, tartar, plaque, stain, and/or microbes in the oral cavity, by applying the above denture adhesive composition to the oral cavity of a denture wearer in need thereof. The present invention further relates to a method of providing improved antimicrobial effects in the oral cavity by applying the above denture adhesive composition to the oral cavity of a denture wearer in need thereof.

Compositions and methods to inhibit tartar and microbes using denture adhesive compositions with colorants

An oral care composition comprises polybutene with a molecular weight of about 300 to about 3000 and an oral care active. The oral care composition may further comprise an oral care carrier. Kits comprising polybutene, a container and instructions for use or an applicator for applying the composition directly to the tooth surfaces are also disclosed. The polybutene component of the kits can further comprise an oral care active or an oral care carrier.

Oral care kits and compositions

Systems for delivering cosmetic and therapeutic actives to the oral cavity employ a strip comprising a first layer of material, a second layer comprising polybutene with a molecular weight of about 300 to about 3000, and a cosmetic or therapeutic active included within the second layer. Denture adhesive compositions with antimicrobial agents

The present invention relates to a non-aqueous denture adhesive composition comprising a safe and effective adhesive amount of a denture adhesive; a safe and effective amount of an anticalculus agent; and a non-aqueous denture adhesive carrier; wherein the anticalculus agent is a material effective in reducing calcium phosphate mineral deposition related to calculus formation. The present invention further relates to a method of delivering an anticalculus agent to the oral cavity and teeth, by applying the above composition to dentures, directly to the oral cavity, or applying it to both, and thereafter securing the dentures to the oral cavity.

A non-self-supporting denture care composition comprises polybutene with a molecular weight of about 300 to about 3000 and a denture care active. The present invention relates to a denture adhesive composition comprising mixed salts of an alkyl vinyl ether-maleic acid copolymer wherein the mixed salt contains a cationic salt function comprising from about 5% to about 50% zinc cations; from 0% to about 2.5% of a cation selected from the group consisting of iron, boron, aluminum, vanadium, chromium, manganese, nickel, copper, yttrium, titanium, and mixtures thereof; from about 30% to about 60% free acid component; an effective adhesive amount of magnesium cations; and an effective adhesive amount of a cation selected from the group consisting of calcium, strontium, and mixtures thereof; wherein the total level of magnesium, calcium and strontium is from about 5% to about 65%. In addition the present invention relates to denture adhesive compositions comprising the above composition and at least one non-adhesive self-supporting layer. The present invention further relates to a method of increasing the adhesion of dentures to the oral cavity by applying the above compositions to dentures, directly to the oral cavity, palate or ridge of the oral cavity, or applying it to both, and thereafter securing the dentures to the ridge or palate of the oral cavity.
