The present invention is polysiloxane pretreated pulp fibers comprising pulp fibers, and a polysiloxane. The polysiloxane pretreated pulp fibers have a polysiloxane content of about 0.4 percent or greater by weight of dry pulp fibers, a silicone retention factor of about 0.6 or greater, and an initial water drop absorption value of about 180 seconds or less.

The present invention is a soft tissue sheet. The tissue sheet comprises papermaking fibers and a polysiloxane composition. The polysiloxane composition comprises a polysiloxane and a compatible synthetic resin binder having a glass transition temperature of about 100&#xb0; C. or less.

Paper products treated on two surfaces with a liquid resistant composition are disclosed. The paper products can be, for instance, bath tissues, facial tissues, paper towels, and industrial wipers. The liquid resistant compositions can include any additive that provides benefits to the product. For instance, the liquid resistant composition can be a softener containing a hydrophobic additive. In one embodiment, the hydrophobic additive is a polysiloxane. In accordance with the present invention, the water resistant composition is applied to each surface according to a pattern. Each of the patterns includes treated and untreated areas. The patterns are positioned on the paper product such that untreated areas on one surface are in correspondence with the treated areas on the other surface of the sheet.

A tissue product that has a relatively low level of lint and slough is provided. For example, the tissue product contains a flexible binder copolymer that is at least formed from an ethylenically unsaturated monomeric constituent and an unsaturated polysiloxane monomeric constituent. In one particular embodiment, the unsaturated polysiloxane monomeric constituent includes at least one unsaturated polysiloxane monomer having the following formula:

Textile materials, including paper webs, treated with a polyvinylamine polymer and a second agent that interacts with the polyvinylamine polymer is disclosed. The second agent added with the polyvinylamine polymer can be, for instance, a polymeric anionic reactive compound or a polymeric aldehyde-functional compound. When incorporated into a paper web, the combination of the polyvinylamine polymer and the second agent provide improved strength properties, such as wet strength properties. In an alternative embodiment, the polyvinylamine polymer and the second polymer can be applied to a textile material for increasing the affinity of the textile material for acid dyes.
