Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The techniques described herein relate to schemes for channel aware tone reservation (CATR) contention with a reference signal. A network entity determines, based on a reference signal pattern, a reference signal resource element within a first slot of a channel for transmitting a reference signal. The network entity determines, based on a CATR pattern, an initial CATR resource element. The CATR pattern is based on a channel frequency response of the channel. The network entity determines a CATR resource element based on the reference signal resource element, the initial CATR resource element, and a resource element scheme of multiple resource element schemes. The multiple resource element schemes resolve a contention between an overlap of the reference signal resource element and the initial CATR resource element. The network entity transmits an indication of the CATR resource element to a user equipment.

Schemes for channel aware tone reservation contention with reference signals

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a radio unit (RU) may receive, from a distributed unit (DU), an indication of a service level based operation mode, from a set of multiple candidate service level based operation modes, to use for transmitting or receiving a front haul communication. The RU may transmit or receive the front haul communication having a level of layer 1 processing that is based at least in part on the service level based operation mode. Numerous other aspects are described.

Service level based operation modes of radio units

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for dynamically adapting a baseband resource envelope (e.g., baseband resources) allocated to a network entity. A virtual radio access network (VRAN) manager (e.g., a host platform for a VRAN) may perform baseband pooling to allocate a baseband resource envelope to a network entity for signal processing at the network entity. The network entity may perform measurements indicating the channel conditions associated with communicating with one or more user equipment (UEs), and the network entity may report the measurements to the VRAN manager. The VRAN manager may then adapt a baseband resource envelope allocated to the network entity based on the measurements to improve the utilization of processing resources.

Adaptive processing envelope based on channel conditions

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques for prioritized signaling via a functional application programming interface (FAPI). A method for conveying uplink (UL) payload may include receiving, at a physical (PHY) layer, a UL payload from one or more user equipments (UEs) and delivering different segments associated with the UL payload, to a medium access control (MAC) layer, in different messages via a functional application platform interface (FAPI). According to certain aspects, the different segments may carry UL payload with different priorities, and segments with higher priority UL payload may be delivered, to the MAC layer, prior to segments with lower priority UL payload.

Prioritized signaling via functional application programming interface (FAPI)

User equipments (UEs) may be configured to perform channel occupancy information multi-access reporting. In some aspects, a user equipment may receive a sidelink configuration message identifying the first UE and one or more other UEs as members of a multicast group and a resource to be used for sidelink communications amongst the multicast group, and receive channel occupancy information (COI) from at least one of the one or more UEs within the multicast group, the COI indicating an occupied condition of the resource determined by the at least one of the one or more UEs during a sensing operation performed with respect to the resource. Further, the UE may select a period of time to transmit a sidelink communication based at least in part on the COI.

Channel occupancy information multi-access reporting

A method of wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a first collision report (s), each first collision report indicating at least one first monitored subset of sidelink resources that were monitored by a remote sidelink UE. The method also includes transmitting a second collision report indicating allocation collisions detected by the UE on a second monitored subset(s) of sidelink resources. Each of the second monitored subset(s) of sidelink resources differing from each of the first monitored subset(s) of sidelink resources indicated in the received first collision report(s). The second collision report further comprising an indication of each of the second monitored subset(s) of sidelink resources.

Coordinated and distributed collision reporting in cellular vehicle-to-everything (CV2X) networks

Methods, systems, and devices for dynamic physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) mapping modes are described. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may receive a first control message identifying one or more sets of resources around which the UE may rate match for a downlink channel. In some examples, the UE may receive a second control message including an indication that the UE may perform either rate matching around at least one set of resources of the one or more sets of resources or receiving the downlink channel on the at least one set of resources. As such, the UE may receive signals on the downlink channel according to the indication received in the second control message.

Dynamic physical downlink shared channel mapping modes

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for relaying physical sidelink control channel in sidelink communications. A method that may be performed by a first user equipment (UE) includes receiving a sidelink control information (SCI) transmission from a second UE, the SCI pointing to one or more resources for a retransmission of the SCI by the second UE. The method may include transmitting the SCI to a third UE using the one or more resources for the retransmission of the SCI by the second UE.

Relaying physical sidelink control channel resources

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a control channel message encoded according to a first format that is associated with a different set of shared data channel parameters than a second format supported by the UE. The second format is a legacy format relative to the first format. The UE may further determine that the control channel message is encoded according to the first format based at least in part on comparing one or more bit values, of the control channel message, in bit positions corresponding to a set of bits defined by the second format, and one or more expected bit values defined by the first format. The UE may select one or more resources for transmission based at least in part on information included in the control channel message. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Legacy control channel format support

A method includes cellular vehicle-to-everything (CV2X) allocation collision detection and reporting. An allocation collision detection module detects control channel allocations from transmitting user equipments (UEs) in each time period of a group of time periods. A quantity of detected control channel allocations is determined in each time period. A report is then built and transmitted to at least one of the transmitting UEs. The report indicates collisions in each time period, based on the quantity and a location of the detected control channels in each time period, as well as based on a type of UE interface.

Cellular vehicle-to-everything allocation collision detection

Methods, systems, and devices for notifying puncturing of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) are described. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a first control message identifying a set of resources used for transmissions by the base station. The UE may receive a second control message that includes an indication of a procedure used by the base station for a collision between the set of resources and a downlink channel transmitted to the first UE by the base station. In some examples, the UE may receive and decode signals on the downlink channel according to the indicated procedure.

Notification of puncturing a physical downlink shared channel

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support communications. For example, a wireless communications system may support New Radio (NR) cellular-vehicle to everything (C-V2X) communication. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may receive a sidelink control channel for a sidelink transmission on a first set of symbols of a time slot (e.g., the first two or three symbols of a time slot). The UE may decode the sidelink control channel and disable one or more radio frequency (RF) components associated with processing the sidelink transmission on a second set of symbols of the time slot based on decoding the sidelink control channel. For example, the UE may disable one or more RF components if the UE determines the sidelink control channel is decoded unsuccessfully.

Techniques for power saving in sidelink communications

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may configure one or more transmission parameters based at least in part on an average channel condition estimate for a broadcast channel, wherein the broadcast channel is for broadcast communications or groupcast communications for multiple mobile UEs. The UE may transmit a broadcast communication or a groupcast communication using the one or more transmission parameters. Numerous other aspects are described.

Techniques for transmitting a communication based at least in part on an average environmental channel estimation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may determine the subcarrier spacing and carrier frequency used by a user equipment (UE) for communicating with the base station. The base station may select a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration for the UE that is based on the subcarrier spacing and carrier frequency used by the UE. The SRS configuration may define the temporal spacing between repetitions of the SRS. The base station may indicate the SRS configuration to the UE so that the UE transmits repetitions of the SRS according to the SRS configuration. The base station may measure the SRS repetitions from the UE to determine the Doppler frequency for the uplink channel. The base station may use the uplink Doppler frequency to select a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) configuration for the UE.
