Microcapsules comprised of a core comprising one or more sunscreen agents and a shell of a wall-forming polymeric material, which are non-rupturable upon rubbing or pressing on the skin, and processes of preparing same are disclosed. Topical formulations comprising the microcapsules, which can be, for example, sunscreen formulations or skin care formulations, are also provided.

Microcapsules comprising sunscreen agents

Multi-layer microcapsules comprising a core comprising one or more active agents and two or more shells comprised of a wall-forming polymeric material, an opaque substance and a fatty acid salt, which are rupturable upon rubbing or pressing on the skin, are disclosed. The microcapsules are characterized by improved lightness values (L*) and/or compatibility in aqueous solution-containing formulations. Cosmetic or cosmeceutic formulations comprising the microcapsules, which can be, for example, body skin care formulation or facial skin care formulations, are also provided.

Active agent-containing microcapsules

Microcapsules encapsulating a reflective agent are provided herein. The microcapsules are comprised of an inner core, which comprises the reflective agent and optionally an oily substance, and an outer shell formed of wall-forming polymeric materials. The microcapsules may further comprise an opaque substance and/or a fatty acyl salt in the outer shell. Processes of preparing the microcapsules are also provided.
