A coaxial switching connector especially applicable for use in cell phones is provided with a phone connector and a cradle connector where the cradle connector is mounted in a support structure via a conically shaped coil spring that allows both radial and axial displacement of the connector for absorption of tolerances and mechanical solicitation between the cell phone and its cradle.

Coaxial switch connector assembly

A mobile phone coaxial connector assembly comprises a switching coaxial connector for connection to an external antenna, and a second coaxial connector for connection to an internal antenna. The switching connector and internal antenna connector are provided with a common dielectric housing such that the connectors form a single assembly. The internal antenna connector comprises a resiliently mounted center contact having a large dome-shaped contact surface for positional tolerance absorption.

A coaxial splicing connector has an inner contact section and an outer conductor stamped and formed from sheet metal and having crimping arms that engage hinged stuffer members for stuffing the coaxial connector inner conductors into contact slots. Insulation piercing blades extend inward from the outer conductor and pierce through the coaxial cable outer conductor for electrical contact therewith during the crimping operation. Rapid splicing connection between coaxial connectors is thus achieved.
