The present invention includes a label, a label sheet and a method for manufacturing the label. The label includes a paper facestock having first and second surfaces and a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive proximal to the second surface. The label can be adhered to a substrate having pre-applied indicia to cover the indicia and the label is opaque enough to prevent the viewing of the covered indicia while matching the color of the substrate.

Block out label, label sheet, and related method

Various aqueous top coat compositions are described. The compositions include one or more polyurethane dispersions, silica, crosslinker(s), acrylic polymers, and an optional water soluble polyester. The compositions can be used to form top coats which exhibit good resistance to scratches and solvents, and improved ink retention.

Water based printable coatings

A multilayer laminate such as a label assembly having high opacity and desirable appearance characteristics is described. The laminate includes a facestock layer, an adhesive layer, and a liner layer. The facestock layer includes a print-receiving top coat layer that includes a combination of titanium dioxide and one or more optical brighteners. The combination of these materials avoids build up of static charges upon laser printing on the facestock.

High opacity laser printable facestock

A water-borne paint composition including an opacifying pigment, a core-shell polymer with acid functionality, and a polymer polymerized from a group of monomers including a macromonomer having a hydrophobic portion and an alkoxylated portion. The core-shell polymer includes a shell and a core, wherein the weight of the shell is less than 10% of the weight of the core.
