In some cases, the amplifier includes: a controller for amplifying at least one input signal to provide an amplified audio output signal, the controller configured to operate the amplifier in at least two modes, including: a first mode including a dedicated connection to the at least one speaker; and a second mode including a direct physical connection with an additional audio amplifier and the dedicated connection to the at least one speaker; and an interface switch coupled with the controller that enables a change between the first mode and the second mode, wherein the controller maintains the selection of the first mode or the second mode until a command is received via the interface switch.

In a particular implementation, a remote control device includes: a keypad having a set of actuatable buttons for controlling a playback device; and a control module, where the remote control device is operable in a plurality of different operating states, and where the control module is configured to highlight one or more distinct subsets of the set of actuatable buttons at the keypad based upon a current operating state of the remote control device.

In one implementation, a device includes: a body; a cavity within the body for holding a battery; a lip extending at least partially about the cavity; and a latch coupled with the body proximate the cavity for regulating movement of the battery in the cavity, wherein the latch requires multi-stage actuation to permit removal of the battery from the cavity, wherein the latch is actuatable to translate in a direction transverse to an outer surface of the battery and to depress in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction transverse to the outer surface.
