A nested vertical shelf mount system includes vertical bars having a first set of vertically spaced apart mounting features and a second set of vertically spaced apart mounting features spaced inside and behind the first set of vertically spaced apart mounting features. The mounting features may be any feature allowing a shelf, panel, or the like, to be attached to the vertical bars. A panel may be attached to the second set of vertically spaced apart mounting features and a shelf may be attached to the first set of vertically spaced apart mounting features residing over the panel to provide a finished appearance.

A furniture drawer is constructed by providing a generally flat, elongate metal body member and manually bending the member to form a rear wall and a pair of side walls. Bending of the body member to form corners at the juncture of the side walls and rear wall is facilitated by transverse coined indentations in the body member which create lines of weakness in the body for accurately locating the corners. The body member is also formed with channels for receiving drawer slides and for receiving a bottom panel. Flanges formed at forward ends of the body member provide for attachment of a suitable drawer front. The drawer assembly as thus designed is capable of being economically packaged flat and shipped for easy assembly by the consumer.

Furniture drawer construction

Office furniture units, particularly desks, are fabricated panel members cut from standard pre-finished flat wood panels, their precise final configuration, by an NC controlled automatic router, including all holes, recesses and the like required in each panel member. The panel members have configurations which constitute the intelligence to assure their precise alignment as they are subassembled into furniture panel components by securing the appropriate panel members together in multiple layers, and for reception of two-part mechanical fasteners in appropriate positions to insure proper positioning of the panel components with respect to one another in the final assembly of the panel components into a functional office furniture unit. The panel components are assembled with one another in T-joint fashion, with the edge surface of one panel abutting a major side surface of the respective transverse panel to which being joined, using cam-type fastener components which secure the panel components together in firm edge-abutment relationships. The multiple layers of panel members provide reinforcement and rigidity of the panel components where necessary, as well as visual thickness effect. In each instance, one of the panel members is of the configuration of the final panel component. Several of the panel members include edge tabs which protrude laterally of the respective subassembled components for interfitting in recesses provided in mating panels to provide enhanced shear strength across the T-joint interpanel connections in the final assembly of the furniture unit. The structure and method also provide flexibility to produce differing furniture items in successive machining and assembly operations, for rapid production of a variety of different products 'to order' from a single machine production line.

Furniture construction and method of manufacturing

The present invention relates to a cluster office work station system having an equilateral polygonal shaped central core having five or more vertical side panels. The individual work stations are defined by wall panels connected to common lateral edges of the side panels and extending from the side panels at substantially right angles. Work surfaces and other accessories, like cabinets and shelves, are attached to the wall panels to complete the work stations and the central core functions as a common raceway for electrical, power and communication cabling. In addition, the connector for interconnecting the lateral edges of two adjacent side panels and a wall panel is adjustable to accommodate work stations having four or more side panels.

Cluster work station system

A bracket assembly such as is used for hanging office furnishing components on vertical supports, e.g., slotted posts of office partition systems, includes a mounting bracket with a plurality of aligned, coplanar hooks for engagement with aligned slots of such supports and an interlock member pivotally mounted on the bracket, with a cam section at one end and a locking projection at the other. The cam section is positioned to enter a slot as the bracket is engaged on the support and thereafter engages the lower edge of the slot as the bracket is seated to rotate the interlock member and extend the locking projection into another of the slots. The locking projection is positioned to enter the slot as the interlock is rotated by the cam and thereafter is held in the slot by the interlock to preclude raising of the bracket for disengagement of the hooks except upon counterrotation of the interlock member by the user.

Anti-dislodgement mechanism

An adjustable table is provided which includes a table top disposed a predetermined distance above a supporting surface. This table top provides a work surface and support for office machinery such as a visual display terminal. The table also includes an adjustable platform which may support a detachable keyboard or similar devices. A unique linkage system supports this platform and allows the operator to adjust the platform to a desired elevation and to lock it in place using an actuating and brake assembly while maintaining maximum clear knee space beneath the platform.
