In a method for detecting knocking combustion during the operation of an internal combustion engine with a device for measuring the ionic current, the raw ionic current signal or the evaluated value of the knocking intensity are normalized. This enables the value of the knocking intensity to be reliably compared with a threshold value. The normalization avoids the falsifying influence of large intensity fluctuations of the raw ionic current signal from one combustion cycle to the next without any relation to the true knocking intensity.

An electronic ignition system having a control unit to preset the ignition times of the individual cylinders, an ignition coil, and an end stage with a switching transistor (T.sub.1) for exciting the ignition coil. The end stage is provided with a switching unit with which the sparking cycle of the spark plugs is influenced.

Electronic ignition system

The object of the patent application is an electronic control unit with triggering and power components, in particular an ignition control unit, whose electronic circuit comprises various assemblies in hybrid technology. To reduce the assembly expenditure and costs for manufacture, while at the same time reducing the volume, the invention provides for the assemblies of the electronic circuit to be integrated in a hybrid circuit and arranged on a single common carrier element. This carrier element is designed as an electrically non-conductive ceramic carrier of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, by which the electronic circuit of the control unit is electrically insulated from a heat sink.

Electronic control unit with multiple hybrid circuit assemblies

The invention relates to an electronic control unit, in particular an ignition control unit, containing an electronic circuit in the form of a hybrid circuit arranged on a heat sink, and having a plastic housing element containing the plug terminal jack. There is an electrical connection between the ground connection of the hybrid circuit and a plug terminal. In accordance with the invention, the ground connection between the hybrid circuit and the plug terminal is connected to the heat sink by electrically conducting parts contained in the plastic housing element.
