A system for determining vehicle location information includes a receiver supported on a first vehicle for receiving a communication from a second vehicle and a signal from each of a plurality of satellites. A detector is configured to detect a positional relationship between the first vehicle and the second vehicle. A processor is configured to determine a location of the first vehicle from received satellite signals, a location of the second vehicle based on the communication received from the second vehicle, a corrected location of the first vehicle based on the location of the second vehicle and the positional relationship between the vehicles, and a corrective mapping of a plurality of sections of a field of view of the receiver. Each section has ad correction factor for correcting a subsequently determined location of the first vehicle based on satellite signals received from satellites appearing in the respective sections.

An illustrative example embodiment of a location determining device includes a processor that is configured to determine an indicated distance between a first detector and a source based on a signal originating at the source and detected by the detector, determine a second distance between the source and a second detector that does not have a direct signal path to the source based on a signal originating at the source and detected by the second detector, and determine a reliability of the indicated distance for determining the location by determining whether the indicated distance corresponds to a direct signal path between the first detector and the source based on a difference between the indicated distance and the second distance.

A dual-antenna positioning system includes a first GNSS antenna/receiver, a second GNSS antenna/receiver, and a GNSS processor system. The first GNSS antenna/receiver is located at a first position and calculates a first pseudo-range based on a received GNSS signal. The second GNSS antenna/receiver is located at a second position a known distance from the first GNSS antenna/receiver, wherein the second GNSS antenna/receiver calculates a second pseudo-range based on a received GNSS signal. The GNSS processor system configured to receive the first pseudo-range and the second pseudo-range, wherein in response to the GNSS processor system identifying one of the first and second pseudo-ranges as erroneous and one of the first and second pseudo-ranges as valid, the GNSS processing system calculates a corrected pseudo-range and utilizes the corrected pseudo-range and the valid pseudo-range to determine GNSS position fix estimates for the first GNSS antenna/receiver and the second GNSS antenna/receiver.

System and method for position fix estimation using two or more antennas

A device for determining position information includes a detector that is configured to detect a position of the device and a processor that is configured to determine the position information based on a primary position indication from the detector and a secondary position indication from a second detector that is distinct from the detector. The processor determines the position information by aligning the primary position indication with the secondary position indication based on identifying a pattern of the primary position indication that corresponds with a pattern of the secondary position indication.

A system for generating a 3D reflective surface map includes a positioning system, one or more antennas co-located with the positioning system, and a processing system. The positioning system calculates a position estimate. The one or more antennas co-located with the positioning system are configured to receive at least one reflected global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signal associated with a respective GNSS satellite and wherein a pseudo-range to the GNSS satellite is determined based on the reflected GNSS signal. The processing system is configured to receive the position estimate and the pseudo-ranges calculated with respect to each reflected GNSS signal, wherein the processing system maps a reflective surface based on the calculated pseudo-range provided by the reflected GNSS signals, the position estimate, angle-of-arrival of each reflected GNSS signal, and known satellite location of each respective GNSS satellite.

A processor is configured to determine whether the first signal information corresponds to a direct signal path between the detector and the source or the first signal information corresponds to a reflected signal based on second signal information from at least one other detector that does not have a direct signal path between the other detector and the source. The processor determines a location of the detector based on the first signal information only when the first signal information corresponds to the direct signal path between the detector and the source.

A system and method is disclosed for improving the audible output of a vehicle radio based upon the particular type of vehicle in which the radio is installed. A vehicle radio includes a data table, which is accessible by a radio controller. The data table stores a plurality of unique sets of alignment parameters. Each set of alignment parameters corresponds to a vehicle model in which the radio may be installed. The alignment settings are used to adjust various signal-processing techniques&#x2014;such as 'blend', 'roll-off', &#x201c;noise blank&#x201d;, etc.&#x2014;as well as other parameters. The radio controller receives information indicative of the type of vehicle in which the radio is installed. The radio controller accesses the data table and applies the alignment settings that correspond to the type of vehicle. Listener-specific preferences can also be stored in the data table. The vehicle identification information can be provided to the radio controller through a variety of mechanisms, including an external vehicle diagnostic device, an internal vehicle body controller, or a radio face place.

A phase compensation circuit, for use with an FM reception system, includes a delay circuit and a control circuit. The delay circuit receives a composite input signal that exhibits a variable phase error and provides a plurality of selectable discrete delays. Phase compensation circuit

A technique for the automatic alignment and tuning of the front end of a vehicle radio. A tuning voltage is applied to a multiplying digital-to-analog converter before being applied to a front end tuning circuitry of the radio. A tuning voltage antenna number is applied to the tuning voltage at the converter to scale the tuning voltage, and adjust the center frequency tuning of the front end. During alignment, the tuning voltage antenna number is used to modulate the tuning voltage around a mean by reprogramming the tuning voltage antenna number a few values higher and lower in sequence. This modulation of the antenna tuning voltage creates an AC modulation component on the signal strength indicator signal passing through the front end. The signal strength indicator signal is measured and compared to its value before the tuning voltage antenna number was changed. If the signal strength indicator signal is higher for a higher tuning voltage antenna number, the front end is misaligned to the low side of the desired alignment point. Likewise, if the signal strength indicator signal is lower for an increasing tuning voltage antenna number, the front end is misaligned to the high side. If there is no change in the signal strength indicator signal for both increases and decreases in the tuning voltage antenna number, the front end is optimally aligned.

Low cost digital automatic alignment method and apparatus

A technique for reducing FM intrusion in an AM section of an AM/FM receiver. In one embodiment, a first switch is provided between an FM tuner filter circuit and an AM tuner circuit. A second switch is provided between the FM tuner circuit and a reference potential. When the receiver is in an FM mode, the first switch is closed so that a tuning voltage can be applied to the FM tuner circuit, and the second switch is open to prevent the tuning voltage from being affected by the reference potential. When the receiver is switched to the AM mode, the first switch is open to prevent intermodulation product signals generated by the FM tuner circuit from reaching the AM tuner circuit, and the second switch is closed to connect the FM tuner circuit to the reference potential. By connecting the FM tuner circuit to the reference potential when the receiver is in the AM mode, the tuning of the FM tuner circuit is shifted out of the FM bandwidth, thus eliminating intermodulation products at the AM frequencies. In an alternate embodiment, a switch is provided to switch off the power to the FM front end when in the AM mode.

Method and apparatus for reducing FM intrusion in AM receivers

An inverting amplifier useful in an oscillator circuit includes complementary serially connected first and second metal-oxide-semiconductor field effort transistor (MOSFETS) and first and second resistors, two capacitors, a first feedback circuit having two MOSFETS in series with a third resistor and a second feedback circuit having two MOSFETS and a fourth resistor in series. Each feedback circuit provides a feed back path from the drain of one of the output transistors to the gate thereof. The resistors are polysilicon type resistors and have a negative thermal coefficient. The amplifier has a very stable output signal amplitude which is essentially independent of integrated circuit manufacturing processing variations and operating temperature variations within useful ranges.
