An imaging system having a front side and rear side enveloping a light transmitting space formed therebetween A front lens situated on the front side forms a portal through which light from an object enters into the light transmitting space wherein at least one optical element composed of glass or elastic material, liquid lenses or liquid crystal elements, and an image sensor are positioned to develop a folded beam path between the front lens and the image sensor, and a real image of the object on the image sensor. Electrically driving at least one optical element enables alteration of the focal length within the system in a manner switchable between at least two values. The change in focal length is realized with the aid of electrically controlled piezo-actuators or by an electric field applied to at least one variable optical element.

Integrated imaging system

An imaging system for imaging an object onto an image sensor, and which has a front side facing the object and a rear side facing away from the object, the rear side being arranged behind the front side as viewed from the object. Furthermore, the imaging system has a light entrance device at the front side through which light coming from the object can enter into the imaging system. In this case, the light traverses the beam path between object and image sensor. At least one first and one second optical element are likewise present and are arranged at the rear side in such a way that they can influence the beam path. The light entrance device has an electrically switchable liquid crystal element which deflects the beam path at at least one first angle and a second angle which is different from the first angle depending on the electrical switching state. A discretely switchable focal length change is realized by this electrically effected change in the beam path.

The present invention relates to a light output device () comprising a plurality of light source units () arranged in a laminated glass structure. The light output device is characterized by a plurality of switchable liquid crystal-based () devices arranged to alter the beam shapes of light emitted by the light source units when in a beam shape altering mode. The present invention also relates to a method for controlling a light output device.

Light output device and control method

The invention provides a car lighting unit () comprising a reflector () and a light source () arranged to generate light (). The reflector () circumferentially surrounds the light source and the reflector has a reflector opening (). For illuminating an object and generating a light image, e.g. for presentation of the object, an illumination assembly comprises a reflective part for illumination and a diffractive part for generating the light image. A light source such as a LED light source is used for generating the light.

The invention provides a car lighting unit comprising a reflector and a light source arranged to generate light. The reflector circumferentially surrounds the light source and has a reflector opening. The reflector is arranged to reflect at least part of the light from the light source through the reflector opening. The car lighting unit further comprises a source-related 3D hologram and a source-unrelated 3D hologram. The car lighting unit is 5 constructed to generate a beam of light and a source-related holographic 3D image, using light from the light source, during operation of the lighting unit, and a source-unrelated 3D holographic image when the lighting unit is not in operation.

The present invention provides a lighting device, comprising a first light guide adapted to guide light and output the light in a first direction; a second light guide adapted to guide light and output the light in another, second direction; a dividing structure adapted to receive light from a light source and guide the light into the first light guide and into the second light guide, wherein the dividing structure comprises controllable dividing means for guiding a first percentage of the light from the light source into the first light guide, and a second percentage of the light from the light source into the second light guide.

Lighting device

The invention provides a lighting device comprising at least one lamp and at least one OLED which are arranged to generate light, wherein the at least one OLED is arranged to transmit at least part of the light generated by the at least one lamp. The lighting device of the invention may advantageously provide the option of providing two types of light, namely, 'normal' of the lamp, which can be used for e.g. illumination purposes, and OLED light of the OLED, which can be used for lumination purposes.

A composite multi-color light emitting diode device includes a first light emitting diode unit and a second light emitting diode unit that is arranged on top of the first light emitting diode unit for emitting two different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. The present invention relates to a light emitting diode (LED) module (), comprising at least one LED chip () having a surface () for emitting light, and a ceramic conversion plate (). The LED module is characterized in that the ceramic conversion plate includes a first segment () covering a first portion of the light emitting surface of the LED chip(s) and a second segment () provided alongside the first segment covering a second portion of the light emitting surface of the LED chip(s), wherein at least one of the segments comprises a wavelength-converting material for converting light emitted from the LED chip(s) to a certain wavelength. The present invention also relates to a method for the manufacturing of such an LED module, and a ceramic conversion plate for use in an LED module.

A lighting device with a light emitter includes OLEDs of at least two different primary colors. The light emitter is followed by a primary optics, e.g. a collimator or a lens, and a tapered tubular reflector with a diameter that increases from its narrow end to its wide end. The light emitter may include concentric rings of different OLEDs.
