An apparatus includes a plurality of antennae, one or more receiver chains, non-volatile memory and a signal processor. The non-volatile memory stores instructions for executing by the processor. The processor, when executing the instructions, is configured to determine a first threshold value, apply, to each of a plurality of signals individually received through different antennae, windowing in the frequency domain, and to determine as a windowing result, for individual window frequency positions, a number of data values above the first threshold, to merge the windowing results determined for the individual signals for corresponding windowing positions, to identify as noise bands spectral areas with merged windowing results above second threshold, and to transmit and/or receive signals in spectral bands outside of the noise band spectral areas.

Transmit and receive apparatus and method

It is provided an apparatus, including base station means to provide a base station functionality using component carriers; neighbor detecting means to detect a neighboring base station; informing means to inform a coordinating device about the neighboring base station; willingness setting means to set a willingness to perform self-tuning based on a respective long-term priority for each component carrier, wherein the long-term priorities are received from the coordinating device, and the willingness is only set if the long-term priorities are not in contradiction to an actual requirement, willingness providing means to provide an indication of the willingness to the coordinating device; and self-tuning means to perform self-tuning if an agreement statement is received from the coordinating device, wherein, as a result of the self-tuning, a usage of each component carrier by the base station means is based on the received long-term information and the actual requirement.

Self-tuning base station for a wireless network

Channel activity and subsequent access is determined by antenna selection. A sensing period is allocated into slots, dependent on the number of available antennas. For each slot, a distinct set of antennas is used for sensing for channel activity. Results of channel activity measurements for the slots are combined to form a channel activity report.
