The present disclosure is directed to systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating a wireless local area network (WLAN) modem to perform WLAN channel change in a WLAN environment that is inhabited by radar devices, and therefore subject to a Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) requirement defined by the appropriate WLAN governing standards. Specifically, the present disclosure is directed to an apparatus and method for reducing or eliminating the amount of time in which a WLAN transceiver cannot transmit/receive data traffic while listening for radar signals on a channel allocated to radar devices for the minimum listening time specified by DFS.

Wireless local area network with zero-wait dynamic frequency selection

A system and method for sharing antennas of a wireless communication device is provided. The wireless communication device leverages cellular antennas to improve data throughput by creating a multiple-in, multiple out (MIMO) operation for a wireless local area network (WLAN) connection. Antenna resources are dynamically allocated between the cellular antennas and the wireless antenna to provide improved throughput.

WLAN and cellular shared antennas

A communication device, such as a smart phone, includes transmit/receive logic to cancel an interfering signal component. The interfering signal component may originate from a communication interface on the device itself. For example, transmissions from the communication interface may interfere with received signals at other communication interfaces on the device. Transmit/receive logic on others of the communication interfaces may use known characteristics of the interfering signal component to cancel the interfering signal component.

Performance may be measured by, for example, a packet error rate (PER) for a given signal to noise ratio (SNR) associated with the received signal.

A number of the at least one constellation point may be less than or equal to a number of previously selected constellation points in a previous constellation map. At least one of the plurality of received symbols may be decoded based on the selected at least one constellation point.

Method and system for minimum mean squared error soft interference cancellation (MMSE-SIC) based suboptimal maximum likelihood (ML) detection for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) wireless system

A radio frequency transmitter includes a baseband transmit processing module, a mixing module, a power amplifier, a transmit power sense module, and a transmit power control module. The baseband transmit processing module is operably coupled to encode outbound data into outbound baseband signals in accordance with one of a plurality of encoding protocols. The mixing module is operably coupled to convert the outbound baseband signals into outbound radio frequency signals. The power amplifier is operably coupled to amplify the outbound RF signals prior to transmission to produce amplified outbound RF signals. The transmit power sense module is operably coupled to sense the amplified outbound RF signals to provide a transmit signal strength indication (TSSI). The transmit power control module is operably coupled to adjust gain of the baseband transmit processing module, the mixing module, and/or the power amplifier based on the TSSI and the particular encoding protocol used to produce the baseband signals.

RF transmitter having multiple constant transmit power levels

A programmable transmitter generates a frame in a frame format according to one of a plurality of operating modes using a frame structure table storing a respective frame format for each of the operating modes. The transmitter includes a frame structure engine that receives a mode selection signal indicative of a select operating mode, and accesses the frame structure table to determine the frame format of the select operating mode. The frame structure engine produces a control signal to a frame generator to control the generation of a frame in the frame format of the select operating mode.

A multi-protocol wireless communication baseband transceiver includes a baseband transmit processing module and a baseband receive processing module. A method and system for a bandwidth efficient medium access control (MAC) protocol is provided, which may comprise communicating a request to transmit (RTS) signal to a receiving station to determine if a channel is available for transmission. A clear to send (CTS) acknowledgement signal may be received from the receiving station if the channel is available for transmission. A plurality of medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (MPDU) fragments separated by a point coordination function (PCF) interframe space (PIFS) interval may be transmitted in response to the received CTS acknowledgement signal.
